The Stiverne-Arreola fight drew a .8 overnight rating on Saturday. Its the highest for an ESPN fight since 2003 and is tied for the third highest rated fight ever for any ESPN channel.

Yeah, it was a pretty good heavyweight fight. The opener was nice as well. Good card overall.

ESPN is willing to do another card at this level if it hit a million viewers. Not sure what a .8 translates to but it seems pretty positive.

I was also curious, so I did a few searches on Google and found an article from last summer that stated this :

So I'm guessing the viewers are in that same ballpark.

That would be an excellent number for the fight. If 1 million was the number ESPN was shooting for to do another similarly priced card and this hit in the area of 1.4 million than ESPN should be on board for more cards like this.

Looks like they made their target. That is excellent news for boxing.

Mainstream ESPN taking a genuine interest in the sport would be the best thing to happen in a long time, if it comes to fruition.

.8 on network tv equates to almost 2 mil. So I'm guessing 1.5-1.6 mil. Hopefully large enough to get us more espn fights.

More that it is on network tv the more popular boxing can get to

That is a lie you little nuthugging racist. Stiverne-Arreola's ratings smoked Wlad's rating on ESPN as sad as that is. No one wants to watch Wlad fight club fighters. Thank god we have a WBC champion that people want to watch. I enjoyed Stiverne's fight. No jab and grab BS. THey fought and that is what fans want to see. Stiverne willl beat Wlads fragile ass if they ever fight.

Very good considering the competition that night and the lack of push by ESPN. My only concern going forward is that ESPN will continue to not properly hype fights while still hoping for good ratings.
