He takes a great shot and looks very fast. Apparently has power too. He's a threat to Wlad. The division is alive. It's been alive for the observants for a while tho. Why the heck did Chris not hug though? That was stupid.
Arreola was winning every round until he got caught with the right hand. Arreola was in much better shaper, landed punches on Stiverne, but in all that training he was not taught how to stop the right hand. Arreola has potential, but needs a new trainer...................
So he was winning... Until he lost? It's a 12 round fight, and Arreolla is a come forward slugger, he was bound to eat a right hand Stiverne is the better boxer simple as that
In training, Arreola should have worked on defending against the right hand, it's not that difficult, but his trainer has limitations.............Arreola needs a new trainer, or retire.....................training is very important and it is for learning from your mistakes, not just conditioning.............
Stiverne is good and I beleieve he'll expose Wilder. Takes a good punch, very durable comes with a strategy and has sneaky fast right with good pop.
Stiverne won the first round as he buckled Arreola legs at the end of the round with a 2 punch combo. Stiverne also clearly won the 5th as he started to jab and move more. So I had Arreola up by 1 round and even in the rounds he was winning Stiverne was clearly looking to land the big counter. I'd agree Arreola needs a new trainer the current trainer has done nothing for him since he turned pro. I can't see any improvements in Arreola and looking at the condition of his obese trainer the guys knowledge on nutrition is non existent. Arreola needs to hire a trainer that will kick his ass, teach him new techniques and he also needs a proper strength and conditioning coach. Looking at his body he has very little muscle mass, he doesn't look like a professional athlete at all, you wouldn't have a clue he's been in a gym just by looking at him. Even guys like Solis have the body of an athlete even if it is covered in a layer of fat.
Stiverne showed some world class skills, he is clearly a top 10 heavyweight, but so far we have really only seen him beat Arreola, which quite frankly isn't that hard, every decent fighter Arreola has fought has beat him. I like a lot of what I see in Stiverne. But he has a habit of not always showing up in shape, he was overweight for the first Arreola fight. He also isn't the most agile fighter. He prefers to sit back and counter and let his opponents come to him and against Wlad he'll need much quicker feet to get to Wlad's chin.
The point was that Stiverne can be hit much too easy. If you saw the Austin fight (in wich a shot Ray Austin looked like prime Holmes before he got stopped) and this one next to it, you'll see that he just blocks punches with his noggin' until he can deliver one back. That's a tribute to his chin, but hardly makes him a good boxer. Chin + power gets you a long way in boxing, and certainly in HW. But it doesn't give you more as a punchers chance against guys like Wlad.
Durable, good chin, solid amateur and sneaky fast with pop. I have him third in division after Wlad and Pulev. The divsion has some talent at the top.
Hmm. Not sure where to rank him as a win over cris is hardly anything to shout about. As a world title fight this was a joke considering there is a crap rematch about to happen in the UK that nobody there gives a **** about which is a similar standard of fight. Sums up the heavyweight division really.
