Taking nothing away from Wilder, but I was thinking the whole fight, "why the hell does Bermaine look so feeble and slow, is he just washed-up?" What the actual fk...... Did he have intestinal problems or something? Seems awfully odd for a HW to be dehydrated going into a fight.
I think he was dehydrated because there were reports that he entered camp way out of shape and was really struggling badly to get ready for it.
I have suspicions that you're right just looking at the layers of fat stiverne proudly displayed but one thing does not make sense: heavyweights do not have to make weight, why dehydrate yourself when you can come in 10-15 pounds heavier at no penalty?
No, there were several reports that the delays in the match were actually welcome to a degree from the Stiverne camp because he was essentially just lazy between matches and far out of shape entering camp. Why dehydrate yourself? Because Stiverne was already painfully slow on his feet and losing to the likes of a washed up 38 yr old Ray Austin before catching him, and being heavier isn't necessarily an advantage, especially against a fit and trim athletic younger fighter like Wilder.
He looked pretty awful. I know some of that was due to Deontay's performance, but someone needs to have a serious chat with Stiverne about cutting the ring off. Even when he got into range he would only throw one or two shots
hahaha funny how everyone who picked Stiverne can't just give Wilder credit. Stop with the excuses, Wilder injured his hand, and he injured his eye before the fight.
Wilder clowned Stiverne that's what happened. Stiverne was as good as he could be and it wasn't enough.
I would imagine cutting the ring off is quite difficult when you are 6'2 and constantly getting hit with jabs and hard rights from a rangy, quick, 6'7 athletic animal.:smoke
He was also completely stumped by the unbelievable rangy, quick, athletic animal known as Demetrice King and the ageless wonder Ray Austin kept him completely at bay and looking almost hopeless for 3/4 of their fight until Stiverne finally caught him in the corner with a shot. This was a 38 yr old shot version of Austin. Heck, even Arreola was outboxing him until he chose to slug it out with Stiverne.
Dehydrated? What? Why in hell would a heavyweight need to dehydrate? This doesn't make sense. Did Scum King sell another title?
