That was because of modern training techniques, which took his inferior conditioning that he had in the 1970s and turned him into a real modern athlete.

Give Ali the same modern scientific training/nutrition that Foreman had in the 1990s and he might be competitive. But you could say the same thing about Joe Louis or Jack Johnson.

Why is it ok to take these old fighters and make extrapolations into lala land when you wax poetic about the old timers? Another thing, it's really academic and opinionated to say that past fighters will improve just like modern fighters and then discount the generations of evolution, genetic change, and ofcourse the advances of technique and technology. People today as a whole are bigger, faster, stronger, and live longer. That is a fact.

There's a reason in other sports, context is taken into account and footnoted for its significance.

Dude those guys used to fight 15 rounds and they fought as many times in one month as today's fighters do in one year, most fighters around today cant even go twelve strong rounds for **** sake.

Do you think that today's Heavyweights have better stamina than Frazier or Marciano?

Athletes improve over time. Jesse Owens was good in his day, but not by modern standards. The athletic records of the 1970s have been beaten. Football players are bigger, faster and stronger. Ali was better than Joe Louis and Wladimir Klitschko is better than Ali.

Frazier and Marciano would be average cruiserweights in today's boxing.

all era fighters are great...I find it funny that people just assume the older guys would just annihilate pac and floyd with the training they go through now and the technical ability they have....they can compete with anyone

lol@ "modern training techniques" what, like sparring, hitting pads and bags and doing cardio. Hmm, entirely modern that.
    Absolute nonsense.

Boxing is not a sport for a start.
