Its quite clear he simply moved up way past his effective weight. He should still be considered the best fighter at middleweight. Hell he might still be good enough to venture into 168 in the future. Did we give up on Margarito cuz he moved up and lost to Santos? No, its quite clear not every fighter has the body and skills to jump weight classes, that doesnt diminish their abilities in other weight classes though. And i think Kelly is still the best middleweight in the world. He will recover. He is not Lacy, he will be back.
i agree with you 110 percent. He is still a great fighter who just happened to lose to a greater fighter at a higher weight. I believe Pavlik should be given credit for the fact that he went up in weight to fight this calibre of fighter. Pavlik made no excuses for his lack luster performance and admited whole heartedly that he was schooled. "Hopkins proved that he is still THAT GOOD. Its not like Hopkins was dominated by Calzaghe, we all knew he had some left in the tank. Hell, Hopkins knocked Calzage to the canvas. Pavlik is still a great fighter with great power and a little bit to improve. Hopkins recognizes it and only the greats will recognize it. The ending to this fight kinda reminded me of the ending to the fight between Arguello and Mancini. Great fight eihther way.
"He is not Lacy".... that was disrespectlful and Pavlik has nothing to have that in - so far at least. Lacy has won every single fight since his loss, so "he is not Lacy" was a stupid comment. Let's first see how Pavlik goes after this, until we can even compare him to Lacy. I think Pavlik will come back better and stronger. It is about learning and often you learn most from defeats. However, saying that he is no Lacy was a stupid and unneccessary comment.
] Sorry, you didnt see Lacy get his ass whooped and get a gift decision on Friday night fights? Cuz i did. So yeah, hopefully Pavliks never is at that level. Lacy is lucky to be getting another shot, but its obvious Taylor is going to wax his ass badly.
i aint hating on the guy. but it was obvious that it is not just the move up in weight the guy was given a boxing lesson.
**** off, he fought Taylor2 at 168/170 (can't remember) the ****s 6'2 ffs, Hopkins does the same thing to him at 160lbs. The blokes a stiff and fought nobodies until he faced Hopkins.
I dunno if I would say it's weight or Hops just plain schooled KP. Regardless, I'm still a big Kelly Pavlik fan. This content is protected . This content is protected He's young and I believe he's smart enough to realize that he can still learn and improve. If KP should happen to catch this thread: When you're ready we're here waitin' and will cheer you on in your next title defense or comeback or whatever!!! And , I'll probably This content is protected be sportin' a f*cked-up avatar when you do. :yep
Pavlik is still a monster. I wouldn't want to fight him. He's got a future, like he said "this ain't nothin." He's got the right attitude, and he might just be more dangerous in the future.
He will be back and he will be better. A new trainer might serve him, Loew obviously wasnt able to give him any effective advice. I have no doubt though the he will improve after this. It was a hard learning experience, but a necessary one
