Who's to blame, Fury or the clowns of Britain who made Whyte into their hero and therefore a lucrative fight?
In truth, both, but if Whyte had no commercial value, Fury's promoters could actually not afford to fight Whyte now.
Same with Chisora, another hero of British fans. That fight is only happening three times because of British fans.

Fury vs Whyte was mandated by the WBC so it was going to happen whether that be for pennies, pounds or mega bucks, so the money side of things is a secondary issue.

With regard to Chisora, it is happening on the simple basis that Fury knew him making the offer to Chisora was going to be accepted by Chisora, it sure as hell is not because Chisora is any hero to British fans.
Will folks attend the bout, pay PPV etc, yes it is likely, but hero worship most definitely is not motivator for the majority.

Mike Tyson summed things up in not so polite terms when he said at a time when his career was sure not on a upward trajectory:
"I can sell out Madison Square Garden masturbating" AKA the money keeps rolling in, but not because of the boxing.

Mr Fury has turned the title into a WWE type trinket, lot of folk buy into his rants, speeches and antics, his boxing ability is just a vehicle for all his talking, people for some reason get entertained by the talk and antics, so as with Mike Tyson at end of his career, people pay for something other than the pugilism.

If you hold a world heavyweight title fight in a country quelle surprise most of the audience will be from that country, have the fight in your own time zone and you are more likely pay PPV to watch it, no hero worship required, you have to be some what of a die hard UK boxing fan to pay PPV to watch a fight live in the US, but which requires you to do so at 4 am in the morning UK time.

It was boring fight which Fury won with a superior IQ and a beautiful uppercut, big deal.

He looked really poor last night trying to box all night pulling his punches. I thought he was carrying franklin and treating it like a sparring session it was weird but he was actually trying.

They clearly got intel about Franklin being a tough cat with decent skills. Whyte was arm punching most of the fight. He doesn't seem to be able to generate much power without loading up heavily. He finally started throwing them classic haymakers at the end of the bout that Fury mocked him about and actually landed and did some damage with them.

Truth be told Whyte has had shoulder injuries (no surprise) and I think he is preserving himself a little. When he misses his arms must rip themselves out of his sockets.

Whyte is just a big lump of a bully, just like AJ. They are pretty useless...but Whyte's long range ability is horrific, its actually gone downhill, his jab is pathetic. Same applies to AJ. Both of these men should have log hammer jabs with 10 years of development but they don't like throwing them and probably will gas out throwing them.

I do like how people try to over analyse things and claim fighter A,B,C has changed or improved. I don't see it from any of them.

When it comes down to it all these heavyweights have not changed one bit! Even Fury when it comes to biting down on his gumshield goes back to the warhorse who will grind you down with his superior size and stamina.

The biggest change from anyone is the physical change of Joyce who is not a lean 240 pound whipper anymore he's a lean 270 pound man and he will destroy anyone not named Fury.

Povetkin might have been shot and old but he was a huge puncher and that was one of the most beautiful one punch KOs in the history of the sport. Biblical

Ideally, yes. But ReMatchroom made sure there was a rematch clause

Povetkin surely could have got out of it by claiming Covid forced his retirement, the Russian government would have backed his claim if need be. Not good that he came out totally unfit to fight and took 4 rounds of damage for no reason other than a payday and honouring a supposed commitment to these shysters.

Maybe but he was a man of his word

E-Hearn even said something along the lines of World Boxing and Povetkin are some of the most honourable people he'd even worked with and that if they give you their word or agree to something they always stick to it.

James Ali Bashir says that Povetkin is one of the ''best people he's ever met''
