I don't hate the guy...somes people would think otherwise,I just stating what i see like others poster anyway,What i like about the situation is that Canelo got so much exposure of what he do like:fighting 4 times a year, picking anyone he want(but still avoiding) but for casual that look like it,things is that it show to other promoters how to get attention from Big Networks and how to manage there boxers.I just hope that they(promoters) didn't follow the idea of picking opponents like Canelo.
Regarding @George Crowcroft 's comment: I wish they would all pick such cherries. The four B's mentioned (Benavidez, Bivol, Beterbiev, and Briedis), combine for 0 noteworthy wins in 2021 and one since Decembet 31st 2019 (Briedis vs Dorticos). I actually haven't seen Beterbiev fight in a long time because I had a family event that conflicted with his entire output for 2 years. When Bivol announces his next and it isn't Tyson Fury or Usyk I want to see some of this same energy.
Fair point. And how many big wins did Makabu have in 2021? He's feasted in low level opponnets since being KOd. You think this is an equivalent??
I don't even dislike him. I hate what he represents what with him being the poster boy for corruption in the sport, having the judges in his pocket everytime he fights, all the gifts he's received from them, it being impossible to beat him via any other way than KO, and he has one of the most insufferable fanbases in the history of the sport. But I actually used to be a fan of his, rate him very highly, enjoy watching him fight, and personality-wise he's actually grown on me a lot since he stated speaking in English and shown a bit of his personality. And believe it or not I've even defended him many times on other platforms and I mean recently too.
I'm not a huge fan of this matchup (I just want to see the hate for everything wrong with boxing/life sent to the right address), but you're selling me on it a little bit. Kinda, he's jumping two weight classes to fight a champion, and people complain it isn't the best among the champions. It would be like Bivol signing up to fight Wilder/AJ/Ruiz and people giving him **** for that. Pre-2020 Wilder would even be about the same weight difference. If Wilder agrees to weigh in below 210 again, you think Bivol would fight him?
That the spell of what Medias can do on peoples ie:like brainwashing or pushing an idea with subliminal intentions can do. You can't argue rationaly with people who's been brainwash or in a state of confusion. The COVID did that to alots of peoples.
Except it's Canelo who already competed at 175. Even when he fought at 154 (155 ), he came in the ring 175+. That's technically CW already. I think it's a better fight then some think. But going for the lowest hanging fruit seems to opportunistic. He did it when he went back to 154 and fought Liam Smith. Did it when he went to 175, fought a shot Kov. He did well at 168, gotta give him that.
I am not even a Canelo fan and have the same criticisms as everyone else. We have like 2 Canelo fanboys on this forum. There are way more haters than fanboys.
