Taking an essay to make a point on an internet forum is self indulgence. He needs to get a grip. If he didn't seem so condescending, and make comment on the 'credibility' of other posters like some kind of forum overlord, it would be fine, as he'd clearly just be doing it out of enjoyment. He's clearly doing it to appear credible though.
