I don't think it's a popular opinion, that's why it's strange in my humble oponion.

But my favorite boxer is Ezzard Charles, i've watched his fights numerous times in the last 7-8 years. My criteria is the skill he shows on the fights that have been recorded and the level of opposition he faced.

By the way the "youngest Ezzard Charles fan ever" title is curious, i'm still young and i started watching boxing from the 40's and i still think it's the best decade and imho boxing has declined.

P.S. What do you think about Ezzard Charles stance?? He doesn't seem to have that much of a "fixated" stance compared to Joe Louis, Ray Robinson, Ike Williams, Joe Walcott.

    Same.
I did a whole thread on him the other week
That's not my criteria, bit it's the one I could Ezzard being the best in
Well I've only been into boxing a little over 2 and a half years
    15 young?
Agreed, but only because of Politics not letting certain fights come together. The general talent level is roughly the same imo.
I agree, he just kind of uses what he needs. He switched to what suited him when he felt he should.

I agree with you about Loughran I believe that H2H he could beat just about any lightheavy champ of history. Those dissenting with that view are usually predicating their opinions based on stylistic reasons...that fact that Loughran was such of a purist in style.

    Lennox Lewis is vastly overrated
Wlad is the longest raining HW champion
    Leonard beat Hagler clearly
    Foreman hit harder then shavers

I agree with all of these except Wlad.

Holyfield was the dirties **** in the sport It was poetic justice he got bit.
    Lewis is ridiculously overrated.
Anyone can be a "champion" today so Wlad's reign is suspect just like the multitude of paper titles Jones and Mayweather "won."
Leonard did beat Hagler clearly. It was close and competitive but clear. Ive always felt people who refused to see that did so based on the personal preference of the mens personalities and styles rather than what happened in the ring. Hagler fought a boneheaded fight and only pulled his head out of his ass in the late rounds and even then Leonard was able to hang with him. Not a difficult fight to score if you leave your bias at the door.
What prime heavyweight contender did Shavers ever stop? His power is built up entirely on nobodies and has beens. Hes one of the most overrated heavyweights ever. He could punch but a lot of guys can punch if you just stand 70 tomato cans in front of them to be knocked down. Foreman is overrated as well but his power is undeniable and he proved it against some real tough guys.

Maxie Rosenbloom would have beaten Joe Louis in 1935 or 1936.

I find Ray Leonard overrated, sure he has great victories and was a great athlete but i find his resume short and it seems he was a shark in the negotiations of his fights. Would like him to have a more technical based trainer and to be more active.

Marciano retired because he was going bald and he didn’t want to be embarrassed as only the 2nd heavyweight champ in history to enter the ring with a bald head.

Sam Langford is worse boxer than Bob Sapp and Willie Driver.

Rocky Marciano couldn't be a hard puncher because of his footwork.

Dempsey's first round beating of Willard is a sign of his overrated power.

Max Baer had weak punching resistance and was just average puncher.

Joe Louis is good only because he fought terrible fighters.

Deontay Wilder is the greatest athlete in HW history.

Bob Fitzsimmons didn't know how to load his punches, so his power couldn't be impressive.

    George Foreman was small.

It's up to you, but this particular argument doesn't make any sense.

I don't think there is any evidence that suggests Dempsey wasn't elite puncher at 190 lbs.
