Strange but true...(about esb & sherdog)

Right, but we have a pretty diverse crowd that runs the intellectual gamut - from the likes of Farmboxer, frankenfrank and wentz all the way to guys like cross_trainer and red cobra.

 

this is kind of cool. Replying to a tread about a tread i created on another board.

It was , from my perspective, the truth boys and girls. Rarely do i see well thought out discussions on this or the other boxing forum on which i post.

How many times in the last month have you learned something or had your knowledge base expanded by a poster?

How many discussions have you seen that went beyond " my fighter is better than yours"?

When is the last time you had a meaningful exchange with a fellow poster?


This is not an assault on this board or any other, just a general observation about the state of Large Message Boards in general.

 

That's true of anything, though. You can go to a large party with sixty heads and meet four cool people and fifty-six douchebags; conversely you can go to a small party with eight people and it's equally likely that there will be six cool cats and two douchebags, or vice versa.

There's nothing about ESB that supports the idea there's a greater percentage of idiots and trolls here, it's just that there's more proportionately...more posters posting more. :thumbsup

If you'd rather not sift to get to the good stuff, that's fine. For those with the patience there is good stuff here, though.

You know i do read the MMA section of this board. I suspect it is as you say, the larger the board the more one has to wade through. Also those on this board who contribute to MMA section are swimming up stream so to speak, as are the Boxing posters on Sherdog. Both groups take heat from the over whelming number of opposite sport posters( mma or boxing). I would guess in general they have to have a greater knowledge base to stand against the pressure.

I personally favor Boxing over MMA so the smaller board and more thoughtful posts on Sherdog appeal to me more but it does not mean i dont find good discussions this board also.
