Anyone else think it strange that this guy is now a murderous puncher yet has less than 50% ko record, did he sudenly learn to deploy power when he moved up in weight, hmmm?!??!?!

    Murderous puncher

Most of his decision wins were in shorter fights when he wasn't as skilled. He was late to boxing don't forget.

He has gotten better in general and he's become more of a combination puncher as he's gotten older. He's still not exactly what I would call a murderous puncher either, though he is a good one.

    these...^

his KO's are more due to accumulation (tko) of well placed well timed fast punches. he's improved his craft, speed and skill are more dangerous than raw power. he's also a late bloomer, he just now at his peak, sadly he won't be able to maintain this too much longer so i really hope he can land the meaningful fights now...

to assume he's on roids is fooking stupid! go blow Mayweather moron...

the sheet these kids come up with on these forums is pathetic, get it together eastside...

i think he has a new found respect for his own power after the williams ko, and sits down on his punches more.

almost like a "oh ****, i can do that?"

I think this as well. He has the speed and skill, but after the Pavlik and Williams wins, he has gained even more confidence in his ability. When you are fully confident in yourself and you have the intangibles that Sergio has, you are a dangerous man.

The mental confidence from becoming a champion. That is the difference.

I too have been very impressed and surprised by his power as of late, but then I remember myself. In high school, the most I could ever bench was right under 200 lbs. And that was one rep. I was in athletics and worked out every single day. In my mid 30's I returned back to the gym for a period of maybe two to three years. I was a totally different athlete. My stamina was great, where as in high school I was basically a sprinter, but the biggest change was with my strength. I found I could bench 200 lbs all day. Repetition after repetition. I ended up maxing out at 255 after only a few months. It made absolutely no sense. What I think is that the physiology of certain people is just slightly different. Late bloomers in life are exactly that, late bloomers. Those guys that peak early, stay that way, but the late bloomers have much more potential. Sergio may very well be a late bloomer. Let's see how long he can keep it up and how long his body can remain healthy.

Yep. And seeing Sergio at 147 back in the day, he was a stick and looked like he was still a kid, even though he was in his early twenties.
