    Hi,
Anyone any thoughts on strategy for an upcoming fight. I'm a southpaw 6, 2 heavyweight with quite a long reach,. Guy im fighting is smaller orthodox fighter. Tried to mix it in the centre of ring[ ego inspired] in sparring with similar type and didn' t feel that that suited. I couldn't seem to get punches off from here and just seemed to soak up 1 2's.
    Any thoughts would be great

being the taller fight you should use your height and reach and fight on the back foot using the jab and the left cross to keep him at bay,if he manages to close the gap try to back him of with a quick combo or use foot work to get out there then back to the jab

Use those attributes, no point in taking away your own height and reach advantage by standing there and trading.

With quite long reach you should look to frustrate him by keeping him on the outside and look to fire the straight left down the pipe. The right hook is also a good punch if he's starting to find a way to close the distance.

For you as a southpaw, the right hook is obviously the closest hook to the other guy's jaw, which gives him less time to react (if he even see's the punch coming) and doesn't leave you as vulnerable as a left hook. I'd really look to devlop that, it's a great weapon to have.

    Also, when is the fight?

jabs jabs jabs straight lefts, left uppercuts, left uppercuts to the body.

Pound on him with that stuff for a while from a safe distance. When he closes the gap work on timing him with a right hook behind the ear and then finish him with a left uppercut.

Basically your right hook should be a deadly weapon against the average orthodox fighter, particularly if he's a good deal smaller than you.

Thanks for the replies, one other thing I find it difficult to avoid punches after I throw a combo? Should i move to the right after throwing pivoting and throw a hook or should I back up wait for the combo and then throw back?
