And like i said, i dont buy that **** because i've fought guys myself. Have you ever had a fight? personally i dont think you have
Work it out myself? i already have, ive been in plenty of streetfights rather than some armchair philosophical bull****
well in a street fight any half way decent pro will do. more so if hes a heavyweight, but not neccesarily if theese are two pros even some smaller pros are fast as hell in a street fight. anyhow the great heavys in the street - id go with jeffries first for obvious reasons next dempsey- he was smacking tough guys around in barroom pass the hat fights- estimated at 400 of them- since he was 16 and 150 pounds [before mma came around he was called the greatest barroom brawler of all time]. i dont think tough and fiece quite cover dempsey. just so much tried and true experience. joe frazier would scare half these guys to death chuck wiggins would take on 10 and 12 cops and win- barney ross brother seen him in barroom action and was amazed liston i would want on my side with any tough pro prefferaly middle to heavy-
Hard to say. I'm sure that the best Heavyweight boxers of all-time would pretty much be the best street fighters of all-time. Some guys that might have been much better in the street are- Andrew Golota I think guys like, Ali Holmes Holyfield Foreman Marciano Frazier Tyson Lewis Bowe V. Klitschko W. Klitschko Charles Walcott Tunney Dempsey Norton Patterson Tua Ibeabuchi McCall Mercer Morrison Liston and others would be equally lethal in a street fight.
One word regarding my post…. whiskey. I don't remember posting per se, but not always being the largest fella in a tussle I used to rely much on my speed. Maybe that was the connection. Anyways, Patterson is rather a blind spot in my knowledge. I need to pick up one of those recent books on him. I stand by this pick even if I don't recall making it. Tough ******* who you know would throw down in an instant. Probably tougher than anyone you can mention. Yeah, it's almost always the case of who does the most violent thing quickest… throat, groin, eyes, headbutt…. It's not a boxing match; don't look for it to go to the cards. I'm glad I'm safely ensconced in middle age and just don't give a **** anymore for such displays. 95% of the time fighting is just plain stupid.
It would certainly be stupid for me now that I am 65,there again there are no prizes for it when you are in your prime. My uncle was the toughest fighter in our town and worked the doors, never beaten in a street fight, he died without a pot.I was one of his pall bearers.
Watching hundreds of fighters in the ring, I choose for P4P street fighter in modern times the dead end kid Rocky Graziano. No fighter I ever saw was as wild and vicious as young Graziano in the ring and before turning pro, the best streetfighter on the mean streets of the lower East Side of New York. What tales I could cite about young Rocco Barbella.! Oh my...
I'd imagine a guy like Jeff Fenech would be murder on the streets. Just a tough, mean SOB. Brian Mitchell had shitloads of streetfights as well, despite his rather diminutive stature. Sometimes, it's guys you'd least suspect that make for mean street fighters (like Mitchell) and sometimes it's guys like Fenech who could hardly be anything else other than mean, in or out of the ring.
