Maybe "street fighting' isn't exactly the correct term to use...But sometimes boxing can escalate to something that can't really be called a sport... Was recently watching some film on Jack Dempsey and Aaron Pryor...Two fighting styles I really admire... Dempsey fought with an aggressiveness that pushed his opponents into survival mode, and viewing the fight with Willard...it wasn't a prize fight, it turned into a fight for survival...Same can be said for Pryor...Alexis Arguello may have been over his weight class, but his career was rolling, and he was a totally unflappable, ice cold, professional assassin...Pryor took him literally into hell in Miami... What are some of your examples?
Exactly...I remember an old Sports Illustrated article that reported on Mancini/Kim fight...on a lamp shade, Kim had written in Korean..."kill or be killed" it was said. That was the mindset he went into the fight with...and Sadd??? Damn. He went to that edge nearly every time. What a fighter.
Holyfield always had a bit of street fighter in him. Even when on the wrong side of the power or size equation, he didn't mind trading leather for leather.
More recently, Orlando Salido vs Francisco Vargas. What a street fight. If you haven't watched it, watch it.
Hagler vs Hearns comes to mind as a fight for survival. Limon vs Edwards 4, Ali vs Frazier 1 & 3, Tito vs Vargas. I need to watch Saad vs Lopez. I think you're referring to just very violent dgaf fighters.
You're going to love it. Seriously. Salido is the best 'dirty' fighter in the game today, and one of the best on the inside.
