    Apologies, long day.

Yes mate I do. :good Weights are another hate of mine, I don't mind guys shadow Boxing with handweights, but I don't want to see Boxers doing heavy lifting. Moderate lifting with the legs and the neck can be beneficial for punch resistance, but the arms shouldn't be overly muscled, and the stomach should be toned and tight, rather than Jeff Lacyish. (Lateral movement is all anyone needed to beat him, I was about 13, and I was picking Calzaghe for that.) Any muscle that restricts movement shouldn't be there.

Focus on natrual movements, and technical aspects. Your brain is the most important thing, followed by a body that can carry out those actions. Core example would be muscle memory.

I do MMA and the up and down back and forth nature of the sport IMHO requires strength training, the term strength and conditioning is used but really its just strength training, to me i find it pretty essential TBH, the blend of disciplines and the explosive core strength needed in MMA needs to be built on, it needs to honed and strengthened, S&C does that !!!

As part of MMA is boxing, and i do a fair bit of that, i just dont see how much a boxer can take from S&C i really dont !!!, im not neglecting the level of strength required in the core to be a boxer (as you must remember, boxing for MMA isn't pure boxing, therefore the principle of striking remains the same, but its a vastly different type of application) but getting boxing fit, just requires boxing NO ???

I mean what exactly else is out there to really benefit a fighter (boxer) so much so thats its essential, sprinting, road work. box jumps, tire flipping, skipping, press ups etc etc etc

Why do you need a S&C coach as a boxer, i dont really understand it

Conditioners could be down w/o, but I think nutrition specialist are vital.

They are not needed, they just take your money like pacquiao's coach Ariza

If you have no idea on what to eat or how to train then hire one. Say just get a friend to do it with you.

    Yes, of course they are.

Come on, are you REALLY going to be doing "Ground Work" in 2012?

Lol @ Sit ups, Crunches etc!!! God, that stuff when out in the 80's, and besides it's useless.

Want a strong core? Squats, Deadlifts. Not Sit Ups and Crunches.

Shadow-Boxing, Ground Work and Running at 4am are outdated, pointless, and not the smartest way to train in this day and age.

Btw, Boxers are still stuck in this "Weights are bad" frame of mind.

Yeah, if you do nothing but 3x8 on every body part!

5x5/3x5/1x5/4x20's etc. That's what you need. Explosive power, Strength and Endurance.

Come on, you don't know what you're talking about at all.

    Training your neck? Zzzz.

Moderate lifting with the Legs? What does that even mean? You either want them to be stronger or you don't.

IMO, it really depends on the fighter...Some fighters are more dicispline than others so the presence of a S&C is needed to keep them focused!

This is actually an interesting point - you can gas very early no matter what shape you are in if nerves or a tough contest gets to you. It's true. Thus, mental equilibrium is very important for a top tier competitor and might be the difference between a dominant win and an embarassing loss.

It's obviously useful, but you've already said "weights are a hate of mine". So any discussion with you about the subject is going nowhere...

Crunches/Sit Ups, there's no need for that stuff at all.

Do you see any benefit to having a psycological coach?

Mosley had one for a few fights, to help him get over his loss to Forrest.

Yes certainly, i dont know why pro boxers who have some level of intellect don't do nutrition degree's, its so so important to the bodies performance
