Not strange. I dont do much bench at all. Even when i do i dont rep that heavy and max out at 275lbs.
yea, ive just started doing the pushups at a higher incline and the pushups actually are what got my bench to 225. When i started doing actual weights i could bench 215 the first time i went for a 1RM. So i wouldnt be surprised if my max is more than 230 now from the new pushup routine. My legs have always been very strong from my karate years and training kicks, and cycling. If you wanna get mass on your legs try cycling through hills and staying in a high gear, holy **** what a workout.
i just started weight lifting and i can only do 100 pound bench press for 5-8 reps. and i am 200 pounds standing at 5"11. not fat anymore i used to be. i have a really big frame.
how was his technique? also how stubby were his arms? i've always noticed that by the time most people break into the 400+ range they've put on so much mass that the bar has less distance to travel for a proper lift.
The reps are always shorter. You cant live that kind of poundage on a regular basis without damaging your joints.
i know this but seeing heavy weight on a bar that only moves down a few inches cuz of the guys huge chest takes away from how impressive it is IMO
tch, if the guys chest is so massive he can only move the bar a few inches then thats bloody impressive! (his chest size I mean) Regardless of form 400+ pounds is very impressive. Hell, 300 is quite impressive. Why call it down? can u bench 400lbs with only a foot ROM? Besides...u shouldnt be checking guys out thinking "ooh, hes got a nice big chest" :tong
