Ill never understand America's obsession with talentless people who are basically handed everything or if they are talented are more known for their personality or their actions that nothing to do with their work. More people care about folks like Paris Hilton then they do say Natalie Portman although Portman is actually attractive and a super talented women everyone pays more attention to Hilton because of things like her DUIs, sex tapes, born into a rich family and changing boyfreinds more then she changes her underwear.

Kimbo Slice is not a good fighter im sorry but hes not hes not even a top 100 Heavyweight in MMA but people are more intrigued to see him fight then the greatest fighter regardless of sport on the planet in Fedor. Fedor busted his ass, paid his dues and made his way to the top of his sport the way you are supposed to but Kimbo wins some of his street fights (remember Gannon kicking his ass ?) and within about 2-3 fights is the headliner on a national broadcasted show and is the most pouplar fighter in the sport.

I just dont understand why the large number of people in this country wanna see **** like octomom and Jon and Kate plus 8 rather then see good drama or comedys featuring great actors and actresses. Same thing in the Americas most pouplar sport the NFL the football games are truely secoundary its all about what Brett Favre,Terrell Owens,Chad Johnson,Adam Jones and others are doing off the field this week rather then the great action we see out on the field.

Its not just that, it also has a lot to do that Kimbo is from the USA. Unless you actually follow MMA, you won't know who Fedor is. Kimbo is basically like any other "youtube sensation". He had a big buzz before coming to MMA. As for Fedor, he doesn't fight in the UFC and did most of his work overseas. If anything, blame it on bad promotion, not the American viewers.

Bad promotion? Are you ****ing kidding me? Fedor fought in THE GREATEST promotion MMA has ever seen PRIDE fighting championships. He has/had hoards of fans in the East. Hardcore fans KNOW about Fedor. The fickle arm chair fan only knows about the UFC and whats on the end of his TV remote. There is/was absolutely nothing wrong with Fedor's promotion or the promotion he made his career in. Bottom line is the majority of casual US MMA fans dont know squat about this sport and are only interested in a barn yard brawl. That much is evidenced by the uneducated rabble present at most UFC fights.

To put it simply its the car crash aspect of it all. The casual obvserver who does not understand fighting will always think the baddes looking guy or the biggest looking guy is the best...dosent anyone remember at school when you who the toughest/ best fighting kid was? Never the badest looking or the biggest.

Fighting is about fighting........Kimbo isnt amongst the best but he looks the part.

Alot of people are sheep and apart of the mass movement without any real individual quality to them. So to have huge ratings is not the only indicated that someone or something is succesful.

I wasn't talking about bad promotion for his career. I was talking about bad promotion for this fight with Rodgers. I'm not knocking Fedor at all. But the big reason that people from the USA don't know him is because, well he isn't from here. Simple and plain. Americans aren't ******ed just because they don't know who Fedor is. That statement itself is ******ed. Casual fans are what gives the ratings a spike. And most of those casual fans only know UFC. Ratings have more to do with popularity than anything.

If the prerequisite is the fighter needs to be from YOUR country in order for you to endear yourself to him then thats a VERY small mind indeed.

It was up against college football; big college football, SEC college football with title implications. Given that, it did better than anybody outside of an MMA forum could expect.

Not always true; my friend walks in to the room, watches the intros and staredowns, and goes "that guys going to win" and hits it about 70%. Predicted Moussasi (looks like just another day to him), Shields (the clown with the dyed hair is trying way to hard), and Fedor (he actually appears to do this for a living).

But your point is right 90% of the time; just talking of my mystical friend.

  12. Not that far off from the truth actually.

Who here knows the first man/woman in space, compare that to the first man on the moon.

The problem with Fedor is that he is very humble, he doesnt speak english (or very little) and that he doesnt fight in the UFC.

Fedor is however very popular in his homeland and in Asia. He is the Manny of MMA, as can be seen when over 6 million Russians tuned in to watch his fight at 4am.
