Fedor will be back. He made a small technical mistake and paid for it. Next time he'll be slightly more cautious and patient. This is not a case of one guy having the other guy's number so to speak. Fedor looked like he was on his way to quick victory and just got caught in a submission by arguably the best BJJ heavyweight practictioner in the sport. Fedor did catch Werdum with some good punches. However, unlike when Junior Dos Santos caught him with a beauty of an uppercut which essentially finished Werdum right then and there, Fedor's punch did not connect quite flush. Also, Werdum was much better prepared and in better condition for Fedor than he was for the Dos Santos fight.
Internet going way overboard. Fedor made a slight mistake and got hooked. No more than that. It happens.
No doubt all the Fedor haters will be out in force now. **** em. I doubt for one second they saw prime Fedor rip a hole through the Pride heavyweight division. This day was always going to come. It happens to the very, very best. It's a shame when it does happen as it just reminds as all how good these guys were in their prime and that they're mortal just like you and i. War Fedor.
From what I can see and the pictures/gifs show is that Werdum faked being hurt to lure Fedor on the ground into his high guard. And if you re-watch it, at least what I saw, the punches didn't even land cleanly and if they did it was to the back of his head... Well played, Werdum. Well played.
In the first fight in Africa,I thought Lewis was gonna tool Rahman and in the second fight box his way to a safe decision. I was wrong both times.
