Strikeforce: Lawler vs Shields PPV discussion thread. SPOILERS

Yea I think AA gig is up, Barnett said basically everyone knows that he gets clipped and instinctually moves straight backwards and is open for more punches. All Rodgers did was wing looping rights and lefts 'til AA went down and BJM stopped the fight. I wasn't that impressed with Brett although he does hit hard.

 

Man Arlovski just has absolutely no chin.

My god, I feel dumb, I actually thought this guy could have a decent career in boxing. But if you're getting KO'd by Brett Rogers, you wont even be able to beat mid-level fighters in boxing.

 

My thoughts on tonight are as follows. Randleman seems to have something wrong with him his legs are much skinnier then ever they are like bird legs and they wobbled alot. Maybe its effects after years of drug abuse I dont know but his legs looked bad it different ways. Im disapointed by him to be honest you know he had Whitehead out and only needed maybe 1 more good punch but decided to back up and throw not one shot for a good 15-20 secounds. Both guys where gassed pretty early and didnt seem to wanna try and finish pretty dull fight. Randlemans probablly finally seen the end.

Very impressed agian with Phil Baronis heart he if nothing else is a tough guy and doesnt ever wanna give up. Makes since to me though if Riggs did actually hurt both his hands he wasnt appearing to put full power into his shots he would land clean on Baronis face but with no power and Riggs has always had legit power plus he was hell bent on making it a ground fight for the most part. Decent fight between the 2 and ok performence for Riggs but hes nuts if he thinks he belongs in with Jake Shields.

Nick Diaz vs Scott Smith was a war like I knew it would be. Diaz has developed the perfect style for his body and his attributes and it gets better every time. When you throw 400 shots they add up epecially with that reach he cant miss a punch and he puts his hips into those body shots THOSE have legit power in them. One knock is he doesnt move his head and keeps his chin up but his chin allows him to get away with it he took like 9-10 clean right hands from the arguablly the divisons hardest puncher and ate them no problem. Impressive performence by Nick.

Arlovski WTF ? I always tried to defend his chin but when has he ever ate a solid punch and reacted well to it ? The guys chin always fails him he could have probablly won this and a couple other big fights in his career. Rogers does seem to have some power though hes agressive and comes to fight that said hes biting of more then he can chew with Alistair Overeem IMO.

Shields striking actually seemed improved he had some very nice body kicks hopefully hes working on becoming a well rounded fighter instead of a pure ground fighter. Disapointed in Lawler though he never seemed to try and push down on the arms and pop his head out he stood up and hung himself. He panicked IMO which is agian disapointing because Shields caught him with an arm in as someone who does BJJ and won a tournament fight with this very same hold I understand you have more time to defend it attacks a different part of your neck because you have to turn this chock unless Shields has just one hell of a squeeze which may be the case like a Joe Stevenson type. Still Lawler cant seem to keep composed in submissions he has seemed more relaxed in the standup in recent years but he has a long way to go with BJJ.

Out of tonight I hope Diaz-Riggs II is made for the Welterweight title. If Cung Le ever fights agian id be intrested in him vs Shields as Shields looked to bulk up to 180 very nicely IMO. Rogers vs Overeem im cool with hopefully they sign some other guys to Strikeforces thin Heavyweight division. I hope Whitehead doesnt get another fight with Babalu for the Championship although im not sure who else is there.
