    I keep reading all this stuff, usually saying StrikeForce has the much better roster. I've said I don't think that either organization has much advantage over the other. I'm going to attempt to compile a list of the organization's heavyweights, and maybe make some notes here and there. I'm going to remain objective in my opening post. I may opine later.

    I went to http://www.fightmatrix.com/
    They rank fighters using some kind of numerical formula, similar to what boxrec does with boxers. I wasn't using them for their ranking order. Instead, I looked at the 250 heavyweights they rank. I had to search through all 250 to find the StrikeForce heavies. I just stopped around #61 for my UFC search.

    Nog Yvel CC Russow all veterans from yesteryear. All are shot fighters with no place in MMA. Only the UFC would see them and use them as legit threats. No one else is buying it except UFC fans. Then you have the TUF "kids". Brendan Snob? Mitrione? Apart from Nelson who was the former IFL champ they're a joke. Riding up the rear you got Kongo and Gonzaga (who's already been released ). Its painfully clear the UFC division is thin, lacks experience lacks depth and the only significant fight is JDS Cain. The rest no one really cares about.

    I'd still watch Carwin against most people.

    UFC should get some decent gatekeepers like Sylvia back.

    EXACTLY. The UFC ran its veteran heavys out of town. Monson Sylvia AA all fought for the UFC title once and would have been a far better barometer to measure they're up and comers against than shot greats like Nog and CC. But the UFC is more interested in marketability and "selling" their fighters. Its all about the hype.

    Two points Scurla:

    1. How are you distinguishing between veteran heavyweights like Arlovski, Sylvia, and Monson that the UFC needs to fill out it's roster, and shot, past-it fighters you say need to retire, like Big Nog, Yvel, Cro Cop and Russow?

    2. Mike Russow isn't a shot fighter, he's on a nine fight win streak and holds a 13-1 (1 NC) record. 34 isn't that old for MMA, he should beat Abe Wagner in his next fight and the UFC heavyweight division is shallow enough for him to keep going until he runs into one of the better fighters.

    Very easily. CC Nog and Yvel are heavys who have had long careers and have all clearly seen better days.Sylvia and Monson still continue to produce the goods in promotions outside of the UFC. AA doesnt but at least he has age on his side and doesnt have as much wear and year as Nog and co.
    As for Russow il give him a pass. But he has no place in the UFC.

    Tim Sylvia beat Arlovski 2 out of 3. Zombie Nog beat Sylvia. Nog is better than Sylvia, and Sylvia beat Monson.

    Dude the alphabet game doesn't work in boxing and it doesn't work in MMA either.

    It's not because A beat B and B beat C that A beat C.

    this is getting completly ridiculous !

    What alphabet game are you talking about? The one where we don't know about how one fighter matches against the other, or the one in which we do? In this case, we know. Sylvia won 2 out of 3 against Arlovski. Sylvia also beat Monson. Nog beat Sylvia, and has good wins outside of that.
