That got officially finalized? If Dirrell returns to 168, the #3 at 175 still won't be Dawson. He is done with a capital D, no use anymore. The spot in lieu of Dirrell would then go to Cornelius White on resume or any of the several unbeaten prospects who aren't quite as good as Dirrell (Agnew, Oliveira, Monaghan, Williams Jr., etc.)
Germany (Huck, Arslan, Graf) vs Poland (Diablo, Masternak, Kolodziej/Glowacki). Huck vs Diablo even. Meaby even with slight edge to Diablo based on Huck's style. Arslan vs Maternak even or Masternak by close decision. Graf vs Glowacki - Glowacki. Your thoughts?
Ximenez is quite talented, especially for his age, sky is the limit. I actually don't think all that much of Rau'shee in all honesty, he and Breazale were our worst Olympians last year (and it was a poor squad overall, so that is saying a mouthful) - but his talent combined with Ximenez's and Caballero's still adds up to more than what's behind them. I think quite highly of Seda, McDonnell, and Agbeko - but their running mates drag them down a bit and my lists were about depth of talent...
true but i rate haskins evan with the loss due to having thought better competion and both being current british champion and former euro. also his wins over hall and ward and his reign as top british bsuper flyweight trumps anything ximenez has done with jamoye being vastly better than anyone he has faced evan though it was long time ago he also beat mcdonnell if it is potential jury is out on ximenez
I agree with that. Huck vs Diablo would be interesting. Masternak wins vs Arslan relatively easy IMO.
Nice detailed analysis IH. This should be done on the yearly or even monthly...if someone had the time or was being paid. Wins and losses happen all the time, it would be interesting how long the #1 spot could be held for.
Even making the correction to swap Abdusallamov in for Platov; no. Povetkin/Boytsov/Abdusallamov is a better trio than Haye/Fury/Chisora.
Pretty much agree except I think Huck definitely beats Diablo. In a decision, judges are going to be far more ingratiated by Huck's work rate than Diablo's (and they'll actually reward his for including real power punches, unlike what Diablo got touched with in Palacios I) Diablo isn't going to be able to pull any late heroics like in Green or Chakhkiev with his power bailing him out, because Huck does have a ridiculous chin in spite of his style meaning he'll be there for anything Diablo wants to blast him with. The other two are toss-ups. Masternak could overwhelm Arslan (who is twice his age) but he also might just learn a bit of respect for his elders. Really 50-50. I do agree that right now Glowacki would need to be favored over Graf, who is too green. There is some promise there (lobed his body punching against Palko on the Huck vs. Afolabi II undercard), so maybe in a couple of years that would be closer.
This is a great thread! Makes for a really interesting read for any true boxing enthusiast. Props to all contributors, especially IB. Clearly a lot of thought and effort went into your selections. Would be nice to get periodic updates as the landscape changes.
i would like to suggest , will someone also make a thread about what country has the most belts in boxing ... or does boxrec have one?
