The biggest of them all, Sugar Nikolai Valuev!

Serious answer by the way. Who could push Valuev around?

When Frank Bruno was training for the first Tyson fight they had him wrestling with the strongest man in Britain at the time Jeff Capes - to get him used to trying to hold somebody strong - didn't do him much good though - Tyson was immensely strong

Think Manny Steward said Lennox was one of the physically strongest - Glenn McCrory also remarked on Lennox being incredibly strong also

Bruno was probably stronger - or at least as strong as - Tyson.
But Tyson was too fast for him, and Bruno's defense just not good enough.

    Lewis had amazing strength.

    Yeah, that's impressive.
Baer was an exceptionally strong man, and an extremely powerful puncher too.

Foreman is clearly the strongest I've seen, either version.

Someone mentioned Ted Gullick holding his own with young George but I watched that fight and remember being very impressed with the nonchalance with which George shoved a solid 200 pound man around the ring with.

I also recollect a young Foreman pushing an equally as large Boone Kirkman to the canvas with sheer brute strength and nearly breaking poor old Bob Hazleton in half.

Foreman was a phenom strength wise.

  7. yeh but i dont think it was talk of pure physical strength , i think its when lennox clinched he used his weight very well leaning on his opponents , and he could push his opponent back pretty well too and so really it was more about his size

Ive got a weigh in with Bonavena, cant remember which one, and his biceps were ridiculously huge. I mean, they looked like someone stuck an air pump in them. Ive seen a lot of footage and photos on Bonavena and never seen his biceps look like this. They were ridiculously large.

How can his functional strength not be very good when he is 7'2?

I would love to see those two clips of Primo. Any chance you would be willing to get them up on youtube and post them here?

    Verry easily.

It probably is verry good, but in reality you can be a huge guy and have (at this level) average functional strength.

As far as lifting weights its Hasim Rahman and Louis Monaco.. Rahman reportedly benches close to 600lbs... A weight im sure no hw champion could have ever come close too.. Louis Monaco is a former bodybuilder and power lifter i think he benches around the same, maybe i shouldnt have mentioned him sincehes just a journeyman.

As for Brute strength in the ring.. Someone that couldnt have been outmuscled by no one? Id have to say Young George, another one Vitali... Primo Carnera also looked like an incredibly strong guy.
