Strongest Heavy in Boxing History??

Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Foreman Hook, Apr 27, 2011.

  1. not tyson? please.. tyson was stronger than rahman or even holyfield. valuev is pure fat. big but still pure fat. my money is on 40 years old foreman or prime foreman . but liston, tyson, lyle, tua, lewis were very strong guys. i watched the fight louis vs carnera and primo could not use his size, louis could push back him. and louis moved primo like a doll with his shots. young foreman did push back his rivals like kids. chuvalo, ron stander,bonavena.. all them were pretty strong guys

Well Rahman's 500lb bench that has never been verified has gone up 100lbs somewhere along the way.

Foreman, Lewis, Vit, Chuvalo, Ali was very underrated strength wise.

Valuev is just weight, he would get thrown around by a decent wrestler.

Tyson used to get pushed around in the clinches constantly, if he was physicaly stronger than Holyfield he didn't utilize it very well..

  5. holyfield could use his strength in the boxing because was more intelligent but generally tyson was a stronger guy, much bigger boned and much more compact.

Bob Cleroux was strong as ****. He was small for a heavyweight and yet at times he manhandled Chuvalo and even threw him to the ground (with one arm ) in both their first and third fights like chuvalo a lightweight.

Can i ask if you're Spanish by any chance?

Holy had much better functional strength, as shown by their '96 encounter. :deal

Physique is really not indicative of strength on a visual level. What i saw in the ring is that Holyfield was stronger and Mike was never particularly noteworthy.

Impressive, will have to check that fight out.

Chuvalo stood his ground well against Foreman, Cleroux must have been the real deal.

Correct. Holmes immediately stated after Houston that while Shavers was the hardest puncher he ever fought, Cobb was by far the strongest.

Yesterday, I watched the entirety of Cobb-Norton for the first time in over 30 years. Tex made Ken win this one by countering off the ropes or moving back almost exclusively. Actually, an excellent and sportsmanlike heavyweight brawl which saw coins being tossed in the ring at the end. Norton was clearly not what he had been, but still a very good performer who managed to get himself in superb condition. No question who was physically stronger though. Cobb didn't use his strength as offensively as Foreman, but he didn't stand his ground like Chuvalo either. He marched forward until Ken couldn't go back any further, and this in a big ring favorable for boxing. By all means, check it out. A good exposition of Randall's strength and entertaining, rugged scrap:

Foreman of course. Primo was pretty strong himself and like Foreman he was known to push opponents but I go with George. Ali gets underrated as far as strength goes as he was manhandling George in clinches!
