Former British bantamweight champion Stuart Hall has criticised promoter Frank Maloney after his finding out his fight, set for tomorrow night in Manchester, has been pulled at late notice with little explanation offered. Hall blasted the cancellation which has cost both him and his fans a lot of money and went further, implying that he doesn't have the 'right promoter'. Hall was due to fight Dougie Curran. The Darlington roofer told his local paper, The Northern Echo, "I have trained six hard weeks for this fight and to be told it is not going to happen two days before the fight is ridiculous. I am absolutely wounded. "I can't believe what Frank has done. Maybe he thinks I am finished. I can tell you now I'm going nowhere because I am in better shape than I have ever been. This fight was going to be where I showed everybody how good I still am. I am just devastated. "We are looking to complain about the decision because we were told far too late. I have been training in Leeds which has cost me hundreds of pounds, not forgetting the tickets I have sold to mates and their hotels etc. We will get none of that money back." Hall's only loss came in a pulsating clash with Jamie McDonnell and whilst he'd like a rematch he admits that the Doncaster fighter has gone on to bigger things. "I am in better shape now than I was when I fought McDonnell. I would love a rematch but I just can't see it happening. He has bigger fish to fry, fighting in the world eliminator, so I can't see him coming back to give me a shot at my old title. "I have been shining in sparring and my trainer says I am in the best shape of my career. I know that with the right promoters I can still win titles."
Maloney has lost interest I think....you've got to feel for Hall and all the lads on the undercard. There should be terms written into contracts covering costs with a bit extra if the card is pulled by the promoter.
