Lemieux took himself out of the fight by chasing Saunders. he should've just stood in the middle of the ring with his hands up, waited for Saunders to get close, and counterpunched. Lemieux's trainer is a moron. he played Lemieux's weakness against Saunder's strength.
I don't know if him standing there would have been any different. BJS was slipping and sliding when he was in the pocket with Lemieux.
Did you honestly envision a Saunders performance THAT good based on his track record? I thought he would win, but not in a complete whitewashing fashion. This is his best performance going back to O'Sullivan(If we're not including **** poor journeymen obviously) very frustrating that he's just starting to show what he's fully capable of. Hope he can replicate this kind of showing down the line..
Yeah I did, he was in stunning shape, way better than usual, and I could tell by the clips I'd seen he ws coming with his A game tonight. It didn't shock me in the least, that's why I predicted the KO, and had he pressed for it, he could have forced a stoppage.
Well, I for one was pleasantly surprised at how good Saunders looked given every fight he had at the top level. Good he performed as good he did, because his usual showing would have gotten him robbed if the 117-111 card was of any indication Golovkin/Saunders - Wembely Spring-Summer 2018. Canelo can go take a hike.
Billy Joe is a smart mother****er, he knew that was the case too, and that's why he didn't half ass it in training. He wins most of his matches fairly easily, and that's an out of shape disinterested version, a focused Saunders is a monster.
Honestly I'm sobbing uncontrollably right now. Sobbing tears of joy at what a sublime demonstration of the sweet science BJS 2.0 just put on. Dominic Ingle deserves a knighthood for the work he has done getting BJS into the kind of shape he's now in. BJS 2.0 is a completely different animal under his tutelage.
I said before the fight he would win by those tactics, he just had to live up to his natural ability, he surpassed my expectations, that's the best I've ever seen him. Before tonight I never thought he was ready for GGG(current), that performance changed my mind. I was just expecting him to use his jab in small doses, and rack up rounds. I never envisaged him with such confidence and a relaxed state. Total control. Now the GGG vs BJS, which do you fancy, power vs speed. Hahaha, I'm not picking a winner.
No doubt. Lemuix looked close to quitting in his corner on 3 occasions. His corner had to talk him out of quitting 3 times actually. The performance was reminiscent of Lomanchenko to be honest. Screw all those dork haters
It was an excellent performance and he's a force in the division now - which sounds strange to say, given that he's been world champion for two years. However, Lemieux was very disappointing. I would like to see BJS vs Jacobs, I think that's a hell of a fight. But realistically think BJS will wait for the monster pay day against canelo/ggg (even if that means staying inactive till this time next year). To be fair, he's earned it.
Lemieux hardly ever got his feet set with his bearings about him when they got close. if he stands in the middle of the ring with head movement, hands up and looking to counter Saunders that's an entirely different fight. maybe he still doesn't win but then the puncher actually has a puncher's chance. you don't chase a guy that has better movement and speed than you. it's just stupid.
BJS is not stupid enough to walk into counter puncher., centre ring he'd just jab his face off, and jump back when David would throw his hayemakers. He'd still lose.
