The main part of ESB seems to be fight fans making excuses for why thier fighter lost. The boxers themselves often have excuses why they lost a fight. From Bernards age to Hatton ref bashing we all know of tonnes of stupid reasons why fighters and fans have claimed a loss as not being valid. Post your favorites. My recent favorite was Vicious Vivien Harris claiming to be drugged after getting destroyed by Junior Witter. I have never laughed at a fighter so much as I did at Vivien that night.
I busting my braincells trying to remember the fighters name, but can't. All I know was that this boxer once walked out on a fight because he said he needed to take a ****...fight over...urine-boy loses.
As a Hatton fan, him blaming the ref is laughable. Yes the ref was bad, no he didn't knock you out. The ref might be a valid excuse for a poor performance, but not for a KO loss. These Hopkins defenders are getting out of hand.
Saw a guy from my gym have his opponent get into the ring, recieve instructions from the ref, and then suddenly be too sick to fight and walk out. Then come over and run his mouth to us afterwords.
the pacman bad socks excuse was ****. i don't care if it affected him or not. saying that you were a cheap ass by buying $1 socks when you are about to earn millions in a fight is just plain stupidity. if he indeed failed to win because he wore the bad socks then, it's his fault. i i were in pac's shoes, no pun intended, i would have kept that **** a secret because it was downright shameful
Manny Steward said that Hearns had his legs massaged prior to the Hagler fight, and therefore had to go all out from the start because he knew his legs wouldn't be able to carry him the full distance. Don't know if that is a stupid explanation, but its way out there as far as excuses go.
Vicious Vivian drugged by Witter's left hook... What a joke and Manny once said that he was the Mike McCallum of the 21st Century. George Foreman also said that he was drugged in Zaire and Sonny Liston that he had a shoulder injury against Clay... Hopkins turns it against the judges (and ref) for the third time after Taylor and Calzaghe, oh well. If Cortez had done what he did in the Mayweather-Hatton fight, Hopkins would have had problems.
I remember there was an infamous quote from a fan on another board years ago. And maybe it was actually an elabortaion of something Joppy actually said. Something like Joppy lost to Tito because of the ring. He went on about the ropes being to tight or something and the floor being to soft & therefore Joppy couldnt move around the ring properly. Was pretty funny.
