Any unification fight is probably more interesting than a Golovkin fight tbh. And not necessary less dangerous.

    agreed

but to me it's disgraceful that Sturm has been avoiding his mandatory defences for a while now

shouldn't he finally face his mandatory before persuing any unification fight?

I have no problem with unifications.
But I will have a huge problem with it if he fights some stiff instead and the WBO let's him get away with it, like they do with Cleverly.

His manager is trying to get a fight against Chavez Jr. in the US. Said a unification is his top priority, but otherwise Sturm will fight Golovkin in Germany.

Felixia is the most disgraceful Champion in the sport today. Period.

K2 will force this sissy to fight Golovkin. Mark my words.

    He's had 4 or 5 voluntaries in a row.

He's trying to lure Pirog into a Unification by saying he'll go to Russia (i don't believe he really wants it) but Pirog Unifiying with Geale is just as good for him plus its on US TV which makes it more rewarding overall imo. Not only does Dmitry have a better option in Geale but he would also be screwing over Golovkin in the process by taking the Sturm fight and i would like to think he would get some satisfaction in helping a fellow avoided fighter get his shot. They're aquaintances and Dmitry seems to have alot of respect for Gennady.

Chavez fights Lee mid June so Sturms only other hope is to try and go into talks with him but since Chavez also has a mandatory obligation to Martinez that he's avoided for several fights i dont see that happening. Only play would be for the WBA and WBC to conspire together and have Chavez and Sturm Unify so both their protected fighters could avoid Martinez and Golovkin, that would just be plain diabolical but it honestly wouldn't shock me.

No doubt GGG is avoided....that for shiz, but if Sturm fights Sergio or JR or Pirog next it's an acceptable duck IMO.

GGG just needs to look past this fight and try his own hand at becoming the champ. Hell, most think he'd fair very well at SMW and Steiglitz is a fight he could likely win.......and I think he'd fare well vs Bute and Ward as well.:deal

Me too. I meant to say it wouldn't suprise me. I edited that.

Sturm won't fight Martinez and Chavez is not an acceptable alternative. How does he "try his own hand at being Champ" when Martinez and Sturm, even when he's been his mandatory for 2 years, still wont fight him?

I know Sanchez and Golovkin had said they would fight guys from 154-168 but Golovkin walks around at 160, most JMW's are heavier than him. He should really try to do it a MW.

Even Pirog himself said he doesn't believe Sturm is serious about the unification.:D

GGG has travelled to USA right!
So GGG, like I said already take a couple of fights at any price (think of it as investment) to get on us TV whether its undercard of HBO/ShoBox or headlining an ESPN FFN. This way he can do it regularly and more frequently than normal and by the time September comes he can bring more to the table. Some names he could call out are David Lemeiux or Fernando Guerrero or Brian Vera. Anyone who has had tv exposure in North America already would be great. Of course for ESPN FFN it won't even have to be a name - as long as he is the main event.

I don't disagree with the problems everyone is saying about Sturm etc but this is a better solutions IMO.

Felix only now starts chasing unifaction fights after 5 or 6 years of sub par opposition and voluntry defenses :-(

Funny he never really mentioned pirog or 2009 pavlik for that matter before Golovkin became the super protected champs mandatory
