According to booradley, you don't get in a jabbing contest with Pavlik or else you lose. What's Sturm's reach anyway? I don't know if he could outjab Pavlik mainly on that basis. Although Pavlik prefers to fight at mid-range and doesn't always utilize his reach, I'm not sure if Sturm could keep circling and moving away from Pavlik for 12 rounds.
I definitely see why people would pick Pavlik, I just think that Sturm is underrated at the 160lbs. His fight with Gevor was ****, and Pavlik might break him down if he looks like that, but definitely Sturm has the best jab in the division.
ive always said if sturm fights smart and doesnt try to exchange with pavlik he could decision him. he has better skills IMO. power wise not even close to KP.

While Sturm is underrated Pavlik would beat him. Sturm doesn't have the reach to win a jabbing contest and I wouldn't trust his defence or chin against Pavlik either.
well, you can say whatever you want about Sturm, but if you followed his fights in the last 3-4 years closely, you'll see that he's gone a long way. He had always fast feet and hands, excellent stamina, but now he can fight inside, can make constant pressure, besides being fast and accurate with a jab from outside. If he could learn to cut off a ring a bit, punch harder, he would be a beast.
Look, he didn't have a reach against Sylvester but won by being in his face all the time. Sturm also can box very well on the outside, so he can really choose how to tackle the puzzle called Pavlik. I certainly would pay to see the fight, which I think, is close to even money.
