Sturm to face Sato next!

WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm (31-2-1, 13 KOs) will next defend his world title against unbeaten Koji Sato from Japan. The bout will take place on April 25th in Krefend, Germany. Sato is 14-0 with 13 KOs. He is ranked WBC #6 and WBA #14. Sturm is coming off a brilliant performance against mandatory challenger “Hurricane” Sebastian Sylvester in November.

Probably this guy who fought at MW earlier in his career (coincidentally, one of Mundine's previous opponents now fighting at CW)

There was rumour that he would fight Carrera, but he obviously wasnt ready to take the risk and fight a real threat.
Sato,a Japanese rookie with a padded record whose name is probably not even known to his neighbours next door.
Very disappointing selection of a foe he is!
Carrera, the tough and capable Argie operator would have given him hell IMO. A pity that their fight didnt come off!
Carrera is Sturm's stable mate so that a fight could have been made without any big trouble.
I guess Sturm didnt want to be challenged by a dangerous opponent who is able to dethrone him.
He prefers playing with purring cats instead of showcasing his skills against mean spiting cats who enter the ring to eat and catch the mouse.

Hmmm, well I'd be the first to admit that on the surface it doesn't look like a great defence. But history is littered with fighters who have come from nowhere to put in great performances in title fights. Also, the fighters he has been fighting are generally quite durable, so he may have genuine punch power, if nothing else. Besides, who did PBF ever fight before getting his chance at a great like Genaro Hernandez?

I'm not defending Sturm for picking out a complete unknown that has a padded record, it shouldn't happen.

But ya never know how good these unknown unbeaten guys are, especially with a punchers record.

only problem with that is everyone one of his fights are against unknown fighters and they all end the same way. never any surprises. he should be ashamed.
