Judging by his last performance yes. My money on Sturm UD, I might go big on it too

Strum has the edge in fight experience, and of course fighting at home is going to be advantage. But there is nothing about Strum that should frighten Macklin.

Matthew is good form, actually seems to have learnt from his defeats and his had proper career development, which is so rare now a days.

If you pointed a gun to my head, I am saying Strum on points, but Macklin is capable of pulling the upset off here.

On paper probably yes BUT Sturm is past his prime and his last two title defences have been nothing special against nothing special opposition. this isnt the same Sturm that beat De La Hoya.

Macklin had a terrible time of it against Varon but is probably getting a bit underrated because of it.

  6. Sturm hasn't fought anyone of note since 2004. Since then he's beaten Euro level fighters and mediocre Americans. He's had a worse run of opponents than Sven Ottke did.

Saying that, Macklin has yet to prove he is above Euro level so who knows. If he raises his game to he has a chance.

I think Sturm might stop him.

    Is he?

He looked awful against Varon and nothing special against that Georgian nobody.

I think macklin should of went for a world title after he knocked out asikianen, I think he has actully regressed since then but he has always said the better the opposition the better he will perform so hopefully that's what happens in the sturm fight

Some people seem to think Macklin won't win the fight because its in germany. Simply not the case.

The fight could be in Slappy's back yard (which is in Manchester, England) with Slap, Paddy and Leo Messi as judges, Brian Peters as ref and Sturm would win.

He did not look brilliant last time out granted, so my statement does kind of fall away.

I would say in my defence I was generalizing, in that after the Moore fight, I doubt many would of picked Macklin to be in the position is he is now.

He looked good winning his belts, and unlike earlier in his career has found a way to win fights recently that perhaps he would of lost in the past, which is promising.

He is going to have to find his 2009 form if he is to have a chance. But Strum is not that special and it is not that much of a stretch to see Macklin put in a 2009 type performance.

If that happens, you probably still see Strum winning on points, but perhaps with Macklin being able to bemoan the fate of a Brit relying on judges in Germany.

Don't expect Macklin to win but Sturm is not exactly an awe inspiring proposition. Macklin should give him a decent fight.

Lets see. He has overrated power, **** boxing skills, is away from home, and is fighting an experienced champ in Sturm. So yeah, just a little...

People seem to be saying he wont get a decision in Germany because of biased judging. Wrong. He wont get a decision because he isnt good enough to be a world champion.

he has a chance so is not out of his depth , macklin can bang a little bit and sturm isnt exactly the most devastating boxer ever so he is not out of his depth .
