If Macklin beats Sturm then his next fight would almost certainly be a third fight. After how close the first fight was, there is noway that Sturm won't be putting a rematch into the contract this time.

Maybe Geale is an option for Macklin ?.

Macklin must be worried about the clauses in the contract as he has nothing to lose.

Sorry - I should've said in the eyes of the judges.

I do think he'll struggle to match the level of performance he gave in the first fight - and he knows in the back of his mind that Sturm will have his way with him again in the latter stages.

I also think he'll find it tough mentally knowing he can't hurt Sturm as well. Think he'll try and pace himself more and as a result get out-pointed by a wider margin because Sturm won't have to work as hard to win rounds.

Macklin's already got jobbed once in Germany he's hardly gonna quickly sign his career away to let that happen immediately again.

The Sturm fight was only close because Macklin knew he had to work way harder than Sturm to win any rounds. After 10 rounds he'd clearly won at least 6 of them and inevitably tired a little late on while Sturm conserved his energy doing **** all cuz he knew he'd get the vote anyway :-(

What reason does Macklin have to be confident? He, like many, already knows he won the first fight and got jobbed, so why think a rematch would be any different? Aside from that, if Macklin wins, you can guarantee a rubber match, which would most likely be in Germany and with Macklin getting less than 50% of the money.

Assuming the judges were fair and there were no options, you'd be right. However, both are unlikely.

Macklin will get stopped if he fights him again imo.

You'll need to elaborate a bit. I didn't think my post was that hard to understand.

I thought Sturm won the first fight. Plus Sturm traditionally does better in rematches.

Sexy Sergio is fighting Barker so that rules out Macklin fighting him, i honestly think Macklin doesn't want it. The first fight's tactics for Macklin were based on the element of suprise as not many expected Macklin to use them tactic's, and it worked. It won't work the second time around

:lol: at the liberal use of the word "jobbed" to describe a fight that was very close indeed.

Hope a rematch produces another good fight. But somehow I think Sturm will find Macklin easier second time around.
