Style differences in pro and amateur boxing

Mike Tyson fought Henry Tillman twice for a berth on the Olympic team, and lost twice. It isn't hard to figure out who had the best style for amateur boxing.

 

In the amateurs there is no time to wear a man down as can be done in the pros. There is not as much time to size up an opponent and you have to get your points in three rounds.

Basically not as much technique goes into the amateurs, for you don't have time to actually make your shots count.
