Styles make fights. Punchers generally poleaxe swarmers. Swarmers often beat boxers. Boxers give punchers fits. It even works with individuals, where some fighters just can't seem to win against certain opponents. (Frazier vs. Foreman comes to mind).

    So...

Who had the advantage on the night Lennox fought Vitali? Which fighter had the more awkward opponent in front of him for his particular style of boxing?

I think that Vitali was/is the more awkard fighter. He could of got a points victory, but also Lewis was starting to figure him out and in the last 2 rounds before it was stopped you could hear the power punches from Lewis. I think it would of been a stoppage win for Lewis TKO/KO towards the end. Remember the cut plays a big part of it too. That's my gut feeling.

None of 'em. Both seemed to be pretty robotic.

I remeber watching that fight live and in a weird way rooting for Vitali!!! I'm from the UK too!! Believe me thought that will not be the case with David Haye, he is a true London boy!!

Lewis looked out of shape that night. So if your saying who is a better fighter. Think Lewis would beat him more ofthen then not. If they let the fight go on. Lewis would have won cause he was getting closer with his power shot. But you never know cause vitali landed a lot of big bombs in the start.

Haye will defeat The brothers Klit if he plays smart, then attacks at the end of the fight with power punches, if he tries to trade he will come unstuck. Haye can win these fights easily, believe me on this, I will wage money on it. Before I was not so sure , after the last fights of brothers Klit, I am more than sure. Haye is NOT scared of them unlike their other challengers!!!! That's half the battle and supreme confidence!!!!!!!

Haye has confidence , speed, power and footwork, it would not be easy for him but fighting the brothers Klit is all about how hard he makes the fight for himself!! Imagine if Hye was American, **** he would be the biggest thing in boxing in the last decade!!!!!! Imagine it now.

:good Lewis was gasping for air so early on. His conditioning was truly awful on the night.
Both fighters we`re in with a chance. On the night though I just don`t think lewis could`ve gone 12 rounds in the shape he was.

We were certainly robbed of a classic fight though. Some of the shots both fighters took was like:shock:.

I don't consider either one had a particular style advantage. If you bent my arm I would say Lewis, but I think the advantage was negligable.

I think they both disrupted each others usual style equally, Since when have you seen either man fighting on the inside so much when they both usually dominate from the outside?

both have advantages. we'll never really know who was better though Lewis won their fight. Lewis was a fading force then but Vitali was not completely matured and reached his best several years after. Two titans who probably split a trilogy 1-1-1 but it's very hard to say who was better, both are GREATS.

Lewis had the advantage IMO, he started to push the jab on Vitali and use his strength and landing a couple vicious uppercuts. But Vitali came after him and made it the classic it was, but I think Lewis would have stopped him had the fight continued or would have got stopped himself because he was not at his best conditioning wise.

By the time it was over, it was a 50/50 fight in my opinion. Could have gone either way.

Lewis was a bit overweight and probably not in his best condition, however he also was coming on in the 5th and 6th, and has the "big fight experience" of a veteran...they tend to know how to tough out the later rounds and conserve their energy.

Vitali was in great condition but was visibly tired by the 6th, catching a break that round. It's difficult to say what would happen once each fighter caught their second wind.

Stylistically, however, I think both guys are a nightmare for each other...big guys tend to have a very hard time fighting guys who can push them back...Lennox has trouble with powerjabs (see the Mercer fight) and Vitali had trouble with the fact that Lennox was big enough to actually reach him and make him pay with counters.

    Excellent post :good

Vitali likes to hit and not be hit but this was the type of fight where he had to take a licking and he showed his mettle. Fans os either guy like to say thir fighter had the momentum, only the boxing gods know the outcome of this fight had it not been stopped by cuts.
