sometimes. And sometimes youth and excellence can overcome a distinct styles advantage. This will happen tomorrow night if Kessler can recreate what he did in the last minute of the fourth round against Mundine. If he can sustain this level of performance for one whole round, with great foot control and angles, stalking forward and shooting rapid bursts of straight, short, hard combination punching - he may not knock Calzaghe down but he will surely shatter his confidence, edging precious momentum in Kessler's favor. If he can sustain this level of performance the whole fight he is almost guaranteed victory. Style-wise, sure, Mikkel is nothing Joe hasn't seen before - that's well documented. But Joe has never encountered this level of excellence in execution - that's a fact. Even an elementary box-by-numbers conventional style, when executed at a near-perfect level of excellence, has a fine chance of trumping an awkward style executed at a near perfect level of excellence - provided that the conventional fighter excels just a little more. Youth and hunger could very well allow for that.
This is all based on what Kessler has done against lesser opponents. Joe has an amazing ability to work out styles, and overcome them. I don't believe Kessler's style will pose too many problems for Joe.
thanks for not getting the point at all. what i clearly said is that although Joe has the styles advantage, a Calzaghe victory is not a foregone conclusion because of how excellent Mikkel's execution (even within the framework of a conventional style) can be at times. if Kessler performs to his full potential for most or all of the fight, styles won't matter. he will win based on sheer excellence.
