Lets say Pernell and Floyd were both natural lightweights or natural welters.

How do you see this fight going? Pernell is elusive as hell, and a southpaw. Floyd is more orthodox, and is going to have hell catching Pernell clean. At the same time, Pernell is also going to have hell catching Floyd clean.

I'd say Floyd because he has more orthodox technique, which doesn't require as much reflex and energy.

I'd say Whitaker because he is quite simply a different class of fighter by a considerable margin.

Both Whitaker and Leonard had a thing for them shoulderrollers.

I would say Whitaker takes a decision, Leonard beats Floyd down.

mayweather could hit harder and maybe even faster then pernell.but sweat pea defense was about the sickest **** i have ever seen.i still compare there defensive work you on you tube and got sweat pea winning every time.

in a fight who would win, uh uh uh uh.**** i dont know pernell was just as smart as floyd.that would beat each other or just a toss up fight.high level boxing chess match.counter the counter the counter type of fight maybe.

The only two things I've seen really trouble Floyd are southpaws and a jab.

So if you take the greatest southpaw ever, who just happens to have a great jab and legendary defensive skills, I'd be confident taking Pea to out-point Floyd.

Pea had a better offense than Floyd, a higher workrate, and a much more used/better jab. plus he's a southpaw, which gives Floyd some trouble, and is a better infighter. He'd win a clear decision over 12.

**** you tell me who could avoid shots better, the both had them track shoes on lol.

and dont think mayweather has problems with south paws or jabs.his only problem was castillo 1st fight.i dont see anything that man cant adjust to.

ok sweat pea wins on the defensive ****, just watched the videos again.damn that fool could slip some punches like it aint ****.mayweather aint to bad either but sweet pea was the grand master to the master mayweather.still think can puncher harder and faster, and hes a thinking boxer at heart.so he will not look silly fighting pernell like many others did.

high level very fast pace chess matchup.the fight goes either way.i dont know whowould trhow or even land more.the might just move around each other all day.waiting for one to throw so the other can counter.

to beat either man you have to counter the counter and even another counter, good luck.

How would this fight turn out? Would it be most boring fight ever between marquee fighters?

Even Floyd's trainer said the key to beating him is a good jab - and Pea's jab was great. A past-it Oscar was able to trouble Floyd because of his jab.

Floyd had problems with Judah and was shaken by Corley - he's never looked entirely comfortable with southpaws imo.

Add to that the fact that Pea almost always threw upwards of 70 punches per round and was a tremendous body-puncher and I just don't see Floyd winning this one.

roger sayed you have to use the jab and corner him to be effective against him.not just throw a good left jab, floyd played the bully in his fights with super and chop chop and i think thats why there were able to land a few punches on him.i refused to use the word trouble, only castillo troubled mayweather.

Boring depending on who you talk to. I like to see skills and mental chessmatches in there rather than ward gattis or mayorgas or sam peters. Taking one to give one is boring to me.
