If I was to take up the sport It would be great if I could box like Pernell Whitaker or Benny Leonard but at my age and speed or lack there of theybare not good choices for me.
Iwould copy Joe Louis. Not the fastest with his foot work but very effective with it in controling distance and being in the best poistion to throw effective punches. Punches while not flashy are very effective.

He through a good amount jabs to the body and threw lefts and rights to the midsection in combination. He wasn't a consistent body thumper, but that's due more to his style as an out-fighter than any lack of skill or aggression.

Your statement is dumb becasue rather than look at the glass as half full, you see half empty.
It is a stupid statement simply because the obvious and overlooked fact is, Ali did many more things correctly, then wrong.
The jab, the straight right, the left/right hooks, the right cross; No one did these better than Ali.
As for his movement and dancing. I agree that it ain't for everyone. Not everyone has the ability or tools to accomplish fighting on their toes or balls of your feet. It definitely requires some natural ability, well beyond the average Klitscho range. :yep

LOL, that was so cool, and Augustus had great potential early on. Too bad he had such poor management.

when i started boxing just for fun with my friends i was imitating ali and rjj , jab and left hook was two punches i learnt on my own. also i tried to dance like ali i did have success doing so getting away from punches of my non skilled (just as i were) friends. problem was after doing all that dancing i did not have to much stamina left to throw anything but jabs and left hooks

then i went to my first boxing lesson and it was clear there was many bad habits to change. now i could probably associate myself with carl froch who keeps he's hands up a little bit more.

i can imitate a lot in the ring. an orthafox manny is fun to do when shadow boxing. but in the ring they call me a young jose luis castillo. lol he was a good fighter just not quick and when i boxesd i had some serious speed so it was really effective.

kind of a sloppy right handed pac. When I try to be technical I think late Barrera: work off the jab and circle, then I lose my cool and throw weird angle flurries. I can be technical at 70% but in real fights that composure always kind of degenerated to me swarming and trying to run them over.

My left hook has real bigger than me type power, my straight right is okay.

Fast and strong but never took the best shots without bleeding and getting shook up, and ran into a lot in my super aggressive mode.

Funny thing about boxing is, it's a lot like playing baseball, in that in baseball it's great and the ultimate thrill to hit the ball out of the park.
I don't know if anyone here has ever been hit by a fast baseball pitch though. As someone who has taken a couple traveling at 80-90mph, it hurts.

It doesn't take long to discover in boxing that it's much better to hit your opponent then to take hits from your opponent.
