It wasn't that bad. Even against Holy in the first fight, when at times Holy danced like a young Cassius. Did Frazier have fast footspeed? Did Chuvalo have fast footspeed? He made Peak Ali **** blood from bodyshots in '66!
Hopefully but how did Vernon Forrest lose to him twice...any results in history that you just think how did he do it? Morrison outboxing Foreman with ease i never saw. How did Barrera lose to Junior Jones.
He was very effective but he didn´t like to be backed up......and Qawi would be more aggressive than anyone Louis ever faced..... Louis would beat him, late, in a tough fight IMO.....
Jones was a very talented offensive fighter and Barrera is overrated.Hardly exempt from an upset to a very good fighter.
I can't see Qawi backing up Louis(or any light heavy sized, lighter hitting pressure fighter doing so).on the face of what he actually showed in his fights he's more likely to quit on his stool in the mid-rounds once he feels Joe's power imo.
Tony Musto gave Louis a pretty hard fight, and he was only 5'7 and 198 pounds. He fought out of a crouch, something that often bothered Louis. So Qawi might well prove to be a puzzle. (To be fair to Louis, his excuse for failing to overwhelm Musto was that he'd had a hurt hand. Seeing as he went 13 rounds with huge Abe Simon just two weeks earlier, it's one of the few excuses I'd take seriously. On the other hand, hurt hands are a favourite excuse for every fighter when they fail to KO their opponent)
The prince had the game to beat much better fighters, as long as they were aggressive. saddler and pac could be beat imo.
If Ike could catch a peak Byrd, certainly Liston could. jimmy Young is a better bet to have been able to upset Liston because he was far more elusive than Byrd plus he took a punch better.
Monzon would have beaten any equivalent of a wild swinging mayorga easily and methodically. There's no comparison between the ring smarts of Monzon and Forrest.
Well, this one actually happened. I didn't think Iran Barkley belonged in the same universe, let alone the same ring with Tommy Hearns, yet iran beat him twice.
I've always thought that the very good Johnny Famechon with his superb footwork, movement, jab and defense would have given an ATG like Alexis Arguello all sorts of problems and maybe took a points win due to Alexis' preference for guys who liked to engage with him (something that Fammo would never do) and his slower feet.
