Matías is hacking at the flanks of Ponce with hooks, shredding with both fists but unable to pry him off. Ponce is still throwing hard power shots pushing forward but Matías is responding more, timing left hooks and more willing now to break his guard and take chances having felt out what Ponce could dish in the opener. Matías closes strong but Ponce still forcing the issue and throwing hard.

Matías is flipping his left elbow out, winging to catch some of Ponce's high chopping rights on the forearm. Ponce jabbing the chest and slashing the body with his right. Matías hooking the body and head with both hands. Uppercuts traded when they battle in close. Matías with a left uppercut between the gloves, then converting seamlessly into a double left hook sneaking past the right glove of Ponce to bash him in his temple. Ponce shoves Matías into the ropes and flails high with overhands, but Matías is able to rip him with some heavy counter hooks and then shoeshines until the bell.
