Subriel Ahmed Matías Matthew born March 31, 1992 is a Light Welterweight with a 17-1 17 KO's record. Born in and fighting out of Fajardo, Puerto Rico. Okay, I'm well aware, this thread is long overdue. Like a few years overdue, since I've been a huge fan of Subriel since the first time I saw him, which I'm pretty sure was his match against Patrick Lopez back in 2017. Since then, with the exception of his match against Ananyan, he's been wreaking a path of absolute savagery and destruction across the Light Welterweight division. From what I can glean, he didn't have an impressive amateur career of any note, he's just a guy who's been learning on the job since turning pro, and quickly developed his own devastating style, which is an absolute handful for almost any fighter to have to deal with. After that he racked up a series of impressive wins against journeymen, stopping both of the Prescott brothers, Daulis and Briedis, stopping the teak tough Argentine Fernando Saucedo in 1, and bludgeoning the underrated Adrian Estrella into submission. Before eventually making his first real step up in competition against the supremely talented Maxim Dadashev. A fighter I held in very high regard, but even then, judging by their styles, I picked Matias via upset. Sadly, they let that match go on a few rounds too long, and Dadashev took a frightful beating, when led to bleeding on the brain, he slipped into a coma and passed away a few days later.

Matias was completely devastated by what had transpired which caused him to lose focus and not train properly for his match against the underrated and quite skilled Armenian Petros Ananyan. Even though I scored the match fr Matias by a point, because even without training, he dominated the first 5-6 rounds of the fight, battering Petros all around the ring. But unfortunately Matias ended up badly gassing around the 7th and was badly stunned by Ananyan, who knocked him off balance and sent him sailing across the ring, while he never went down, the ref ruled that the ropes held him up, Causing him to lose a UD, which would've been a draw sans the KD. Thankfully that lit a fire under Subriel's ass, and he's come roaring back with a hellfire and brimstone like vengeance, not wanting to let it go to the cards again. He's put on back to back masterful displays of sheer carnage and brutality against two very talented undefeated fighters, first TMT's Malik Hawkins and most recently the highly rated by others and me, Kazakh amateur standout Batyrzhan Jukembayev, both of whom he hammered relentlessly to two back to back mercyful corner stoppages, thankfully both not wanting to tempt fate with their fighters, who were taking frightful beatings. His style in a nutshell is, his offense is his defense. He marches forward throws his shots in blistering combinations to the body and head, setting a suffocating pace, never even giving his opponent a chance to think. If GGG was a volume puncher with porous defense, he wouldn't be all that dissimilar. Not saying he has no defense, occasionally if his opponent stuns him, he'll step back and use his reach to advantage and land combinations from range. So yeah, Matias is an absolute beast, when focused will be not only a problem, but The Problem at LWW. It's time for AB to hand over his moniker, because it's better than Browny and because aside from Taylor, I have a hard time seeing anyone stand up to a sustained twelve round beating from a 100% determined and fully focused version of this man. So check out P4P one of the most entertaining fighters in the sport in action.:ggg:ggg:ggg:ggg

Expect Matias to capture the IBF belt after JT vacates. Ritson vs Ponce doesn't matter as Matias will brutally decimate both. :chuck:

Shame they were a division or two and half a generation apart, because a Browny vs. Chocolate Brownies matchup would've been, in the parlance of Hall & Nash et al, tooooo sweet (but with just enough cacao to balance it out). :sisi1

And yeah, the Matías Express will flatten anything foolish enough to cross its path save TTT and maybe Rougarou. :ibutt

Never see him before but after watching his fight against Jukembayev I’m liking what I’m seeing so far. Seems to be a very offense-heavy power puncher with relentless pressure. He reminds me of a smaller Jarrett Hurd with thudding power. Definitely be watching more of him since he always comes to fight.

:D I'm surprised he hasn't used that as his moniker because not only does it suit his ferocity, aggression and relentless style he's even got the blond hair.

I've anointed a couple of fighters with that appellation in the past (most recently Jean Carlos Torres, in the context of saying it suited him better than his current one, The Wolf, but honestly it'd be an even bigger improvement over 'Browny' as El Lobo is still perfectly badass) but endorse its rerouting to Subriel.
