When it comes to a style like Abraham's there's a very thin line between success and failure. If he wasn't such a good counterpuncher, didn't have as much power, heart and confidence, he would be just another one of the fighters who's considered boring, inactive and only there to collect a payday. How many other fighters have had a similar style to Abraham's, and how many made it work?
Clottey comes to mind...he however doesn't do as good a job as AA transitioning from defensive mode to attack mode...as seen last week vs Pac
I find W Wright a bit similar with his high held guard, but in fairness Winky does pop out the jab more often
It was abaut Successful fighters.... Neither Winky nor Cottley were really succesfull in recent times. Both are quite good fighters but not on Abrahams successlevel...
Winky has been successful in his career. Hes past his best now, but has won WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring LMW titles. I find that to have been a successful career, and the thread does say "have had"
Winky Wright and Arthur Abraham are the only two I can think of who was successfull with this kind of style, but Abraham is a whole lot more exciting.
to use that style you have to be very strong and very tough, also to make it wiork you have to have real ko power, winkys style is totally different of that to AA and clottey
Winky was not successful as Abraham is? Since victories over Trinidad and Mosley just don't stack up when compared with that over Jermain Taylor's corpse?
