toney had 33 fight. tito trinidad may not have had a lot of amateur fights but i have a feeling it was all around him growing up with a father like that.

True...how do you think his career would have changed if he'd stayed an amateur longer and fought (and won a medal) in the 76' Olympics?

i don't think hagler would ever be the media darling leonard was. hagler was one ugly scary looking man. but he might have been matched more carefully.

Hard to improve on bein' an ATG middleweight, TS. With his lack of flash and menacing aura, doubt if Madison Ave. would've beaten a path to his door.

that only stems with not being able to get a fight from Ann Wolfe, who was the only notable rival competition to her. Basically it was a Pacquiao vs Mayweather caliber fight, with Wolfe ducking, as Ali had publicly called her out a few times. She pretty much cleaned the entire SuperMid division, including all the belts at one time or another. To include a Lt. Heavyweight belt. She also went down a weightclass for a catchweight fight vs a smaller opponent who was rated #1 P4P at the time. Unfortunately, Martine had to UP 20lbs, and was crushed in 3 rounds, but made a great accounting for herself.

So..... she went down AND up, searching for competition, AFTER she had beaten the 3 Title beltholders of her Supermid weightclass. She was not a ducker...

tell me a big name she ducked...

Martinez was a 2-time Argentine Champion as well as 'Inter Continental Champion', and in 1997 he participated in the World Amateur Championships.

He's no Olympian but it is some pedigree.

From Wikipedia (I told you i wasn't into women boxing)

    Criticism

Other top women's boxing champions such as [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Wolfe"]Ann Wolfe[/ame] (24-1), [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vonda_Ward"]Vonda Ward[/ame] (23-1), [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leatitia_Robinson"]Leatitia Robinson[/ame] (15-1 pro; 37-1 am), and [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natascha_Ragosina"]Natascha Ragosina[/ame] (22-0) have claimed in interviews that they have challenged Laila Ali many times over the years, but Laila has always found ways of avoiding them. Boxing writers and fans have repeatedly expressed disappointment in Ali's ducking the top contenders throughout her career

I think all of your post is wrong.
Pac, Hop, Duran and Hagler I KNOW FOR SURE had amateur fights. Hop and Hag were pretty short. Idk about Duran or Pac.

    And every Mexican great?? BULL****
Both Marquez bros were in the amateurs. JCC S.r has a very very very few fights as an amateur.
