Is it true that some people suck at running/road work having to stop every now and again but have great stamina when it comes to fight night? when i heard this it didn't really make sense because i would think if your staminas bad when your running then when your fighting it'll be bad aswell
If you have good stamina when you're boxing then that's all that matters. You'll know that from sparring etc. before you actually fight. Still it would be very strange for you to be fit while you're boxing but not when you're running, unless you have a very relaxed, efficient style when you box with skills out your ass (ala Toney). Fitness is activity specific but fitness from one activity does have transfer to an extent. Really there's no need to run at all, it's supplemental the same way that lifting weights are.
That gives you a quick burst as it releases glycogen, that's short lived so it's not going to help over 9 minutes.
