    ........at 154 lbs.

The Leonard who briefly stepped up to this weight,to beat Ayub Kalule against the 1984 Hearns who stopped Roberto Duran in two rounds.

From them 2 fights at I would go for Hearns but give leonard a couple of warm up fights at light middle and I think he would find a way of beating Hearns over 15 rounds. Over 12 it's a toss up.

I tend to agree with you Al. Hard to go against Leonard over 15. Hearns takes a twelve rounder.

I would favor Leonard, but it would probably be a real nail-biter, and hopefully, Ray wouldn't get his head snapped back like in the Kalue affair. If that occurs, Hearns would win.

    Hearns wins if it's 15 , 12 or 10 , as long as he isn't 2 drained like he was 4 their 1st and maybe even 2nd fight .

Hearns really showed his class at 154. He had a lot of hand problems, so he boxed more at the time. I think he'd beat Leonard at 154.

Hearns over 12 rounds is the general consensus. Over 15 rounds I'd have Leonard as the favourite, as Ray would always come on hard in the final rounds, and Tommy may not have enough left to keep him off.

I favour Hearns for sure over 12 and give him a shot over 15.

Leonard really didn't have much success when he moved up above 147 (besides the Kaule fight).

    "Duck" became his watchword.

Thomas hearns RIPS Ray Leonard to pieces in this one. Perhaps the best 154 pounder EVER, Tommy was light years better, more experienced than the cocky welterweight freakling. If you ask me, it's like comparing Joe Louis from the first and second Schmeling fights

and the 15 round distance wouldnt matter anyhow. It's not going close to 15 so stamina wouldnt be an issue here

"Duck" may have been Ray's mantra after the Hagler fight, when it came to fighting the top young fighters of that time, but he can't be accused of that during his pre 1982 retirement time at the top. Benitez,Duran,Kalule and Hearns on his record speaks for itself.

there was a thread about it in d last few months in which it was told that Benitez seemed indifferent when d fight was stopped and that he also slacked in training for that fight . don't remember whose thread it was .
