Leonard's top 4 wins are the best of any fighter's.

In terms of depth of resume though, many, many fighters surpass SRL.

Are you saying Leonard was in his prime when he beat Hagler? He had a five years hiatus with just one failed comeback. Hagler at least was more active and fought an amazing fight one year before meeting Leonard. Both fighters were past their prime and Leonard pulled off an amazing gameplan. Sure, it wasn't dominant, but what did Hagler do to possibly deserve the win? He claimed he was never hurt, but Leonard bcked him up several times with his flurries when it seemed like Hagler had him in trouble.

Difference between best and greatest IMO and Sugar Ray Leonard might be the best to ever lace em up I was watching his **** from the late 70s and early 80s early whoooaaa was beautiful foot movement,a underatted bodypuncher, deadly uppercuts and hooks and the speed to die for not to mention when he hurt you u had a killer finishing ability. What makes it the most impressive is he beat the very best guys of all time that where out there Hagler,Benitez,Duran,Hearns.

#14. He's a great, great fighter and I was being a bit glib. I have Benny at #13, but I won't insist that they hav to be ranked in this order, though it is close.

Leonard doens't have a serious case for the #1 spot in my view, though a case for #10 can probably be made.

This is the bottom line, an excellent point.

Durin his absolute prime, Leonard was beaten by a physically small lightweight. So the argument for him as h2h #1 is pretty weak.

There's always more to it than at first glance. If Hagler was faded then so was Leonard who was also coming off a lay off and above his natural weight, if Hearns was too big for ww and it adversely afected him then Leonard was too small at SM and that adversely afected him. As for the first Duran match I agree with all points.
Also Leonard beat a prime Benitez which is not to be sniffed at. Again careers to short and intermitent for him to be the goat but I can honestly say I think p4p he's the most talented fighter I've ever seen.

Theres also the part where the Hagler won most of nearly every round in their fight, and still managed to lose.. Leonard landed a flurry or two per round and the crowd went absolutely nuts.

Sorry, Leonard lost that fight, as well as his rematch with Hearns.
