he's my favourite boxer all time, dunno whether he was the best though he'd be up there for sure
think the guy he took his sugar ray from was probably the main man

Ive been into Boxing since 1980 (Minter/Hagler is my first boxing memory)and Sugar Ray is the best p4p since then. I'm not sure about all time. He always found ways to get a result. If he had won the Brawl, and retired after Lalonde, he would be ranked top 5 ever no question.

nah leonard won just faded late on

as for hagler bein shot seem to remember leonard havin had a long lay off prior to it too.

the second an third hearns fights were hearns wins for me, though they were both shot by then

He fought the wrong fight against one of the other best of all time. He then made adjustments, rematched him and schooled him. Leonard got the better of Duran, Leonard was the better fighter. :good

Many seem to believe Hagler won, but I'll not use that as part of my argument, as I scored it for Leonard.

He was certainly never hurt, he was just outlanded at times due to Leonard's handspeed in the corners.

Anyways, no Leonard was not prime either, but his style was the exact same as it would've been in his prime against Hagler. The same can not be said of Hagler, who was a far more versatile, physically able fighter in his prime.

Duran was not at his best for the rematch, and I'd agree with that final statement if you added "at 147". Duran's best was at 135.

True, definitely true. Leonard will always have the claim of beating Duran, Hearns and Hagler. He was the best and most likely choice for the best of the Fab 4. The Fab 4 were the best of a golden era of boxing. This puts him in contention for the best of all time. I don't think he is GOAT. Duran is grouped in the Fab 4, somewhat unfairly because he is significantly smaller. :deal

The Duran win is being held against him but you gotta remember that he did quite a bit of trading with the guy who was gonna be better on the inside. I could definetely see him ebating any fighter H2H p4p. Could easily see him beating SRR.
