There are plenty of people here who can't break an egg, fight for **** and have never laced up in their lives.

However, they love the sport, follow it like a religion and are just as qualiified and know boxing every bit as much as the great's. :deal :good

    Hold on.

Ray say's "Roy was expected to beat Calzaghe", and you call him dishonest and full of ****.

Carl says Roy will destroy Calzaghe, and you say he is "telling it like it is".

    :huh

I never read Carl's comments before the fight.

After the fight though, when asked what he thought of the fight he said that Roy was a legend and one of his favourite fighter's, but he was WELL passed his best and that he saw the fight for what it was. He called Roy an Old man.

Roy was not "expected" to beat Joe, just look at the Vegas odds. That's like saying that B-Hop was expected to beat Pavlik, it's just not true.

    Fair do's.

What Carl said before and after the fight were very different things.

What he said before was probably through Hope and like you say, he was his fave fighter.

"Joe Calzaghe was supposed to be an easy opponent for Jeff Lacy to annihilated and that was a huge, huge upset for the boxing critics and historians and even myself and I didn't think Joe could beat Jeff Lacy."

I never for one second thought that Lacy would "annihilate" Calzaghe and did'nt for one second think that his win over Lacy was a "huge upset".

The only people who thought this were the people (Americans) who never saw Calzaghe fight before and thought he was a typical, protected Euro Bum with a padded record etc.

Let's be honest, how many Joe Calzaghe fight's prior to Jeff Lacy has Ray seen? ;)

No, he just knows what he's talking about. Same as Hagler, RJJ and many other great fighters who recognise Calzaghe as being a talented fighter.

You might not have, but you were in the minority

Almost uninamous for Lacy in the American press, and Experts.

So how is Ray being dishonest. The press did favour Lacy, so did he.

    No question.

All respect to Ray, but to say that Jones was the favorite brings tears to my eyes - through laughter.

Two of my many comments before Lacy vs Calzaghe, which i took from another forum.

"I wish they would stop calling this a "career difining fight" and "Super Fight". They are making Lacy sound like a prime Roy Jones ffs. I've never thought Lacy was "that good" and a win over Lacy really isnt that much of a big deal IMO. Lacy has'nt really proved anything yet."

"Also he's (Warren) comparing a potential win over Lacy to Hattons win over Tszyu. WTF?"

I made these comments because I've seen a hell of a lot of fights from both fighters' careers.

We had a lot of Amercnas who never even saw Calzaghe fight making bold and stupid predictions about Lacy being the 168lb Mike Tyson and destorying Calzaghe etc etc.

We also have a hell of a lot of boxer's who don't even follow the sport. Especially some of the old timers.

That's why we have comments from the likes of Hagler about Calzaghe needing to prove himself against Tarver.
