Underrated defense, reflex-based as it was, but obviously his offense was top echelon.

Defense was somewhat overrated, good, but offense was great. His face swelled after Benitez and Hearns, amazingly he wasn't cut.

Duran too? At the end of the day he did make him quit.

About his offensive skills, I'd say he has probably the best handspeed I've seen, is a pretty good finisher, nice jab. I believe he's not that great defensively, but his feet made up most of the times for his flaws.

Duran quitting had nothing to do with strength and everything to do with movement.

Yeah, my bad. I don't know why but I read Bokaj's post and I understood it completely different. I do that sometimes.

Bump. I think Leonard's defensive skills get underrated these days because of how good his offense was. Not the slickest but his foot movement was solid.

It all came from his feet. He'd use his feet to get away from trading, some call running. And he'd use his feet to skip and feint to make people overreact to punches he wasn't throwing, then when they gave him openings he'd throw.

This is pretty much it. His defense was based on speed and reflexes and the use of his legs. Blocking, parrying, slipping...….there have been far better, but that's not a knock on him. Not everyone can do everything.....
