I don't. Hearns was defenseless and taking good clean shots, especially to the body. A slight percentage of Pearl's decision was probably based on Hearns being hurt badly during the previous round. Hearns was clearly hurt on at least three ocassions throughout the fight prior to Pearl saying "enough".
Hearns was knackered and his legs had gone i cant really remeber the benitez stoppage but i was pretty sure leonard was dominating him leonard had some power and he was accurate and threw combos and all that maximised his power
Very Good Power, I could see him taking out Oscar De La Hoya, and the best fight showcasing his power was Davey Green.:good
I think he had very good power, well above average. His ability to finish a man came more from his ability to throw a quality punch, string quality punches in combination and his virtually unrivaled finishing ability.
Underrated power. Leonard could really dig, he had stinging power which more than got peoples respect. What added to it was that he was a killer and a mean finisher. One of the best finishers i've EVER seen.
There was so much to support him in getting good leverage -- fast and nimble feet to get into position, reflexes to dodge inside the pocket, handspeed to then capitalize and deliver, the skill and coordination to put punches together and the mental sharpness to stay in the moment. If you got all that, I wonder how much power you need at minimum to be absolutely deadly.
I think mostly every knowledgable boxing fan knows Trinidad was a serious puncher at 147lbs. I don't see how anyone can say they think his power was underrated. Thats like saying Muhammad Ali had underrated boxing ability or Joe Louis's power was underrated at heavyweight.
