gotta go with Floyd....his defense was built to absorb and parry shots instead of slipping them.....as accurate and at this weight strong as he was he would land some very good shots on P and he also could fight and box with P.....i gotta go with Floyd in a close fight.

 

Unlike some, I would love to watch this fight between two masters of the sweet science.

I see Whitaker winning by decision

Floyd would have trouble with Whitaker's southpaw stance. I see Whitaker's jab being a big factor as he would keep a distance and outbox Mayweather from the outside. Whitaker's punch volume was much higher than Mayweather's, albeit he wouldn't get off with the same frequency. Because of Floyd's speed and quickness, I imagine he would hold his own and get in some nice lead right hands.

I believe Mayweather would have to be coming forward, but the problem is Whitaker was great against pressure fighters.

hmmmmm...you know i think thats Floyd's Achillies.....Long Solid Jab....this enables the boxer to be able to box Floyd who has a good one and as much talent as FLoyd.....i cant argue with you....good post just different opinons:good

 

I think we see things a little differently, although we both agree it wouldn't be an easy fight for either

At 147, I didn't think Whitaker brought up the magic that made him so great at lightweight. I'd actually give Mayweather a better chance here to win, and depending how he does at 147 from here on out, I may pick him at this weight.

 

So tough to analyze these matchups. Too many variables and so much talent between the two:good
