That sums it up. All 4 compete at the absolute highest level of pugilism. I'm not too sure if many people realize this.

 

I think in terms of "skill" H2H abilty that is; Roy Jones is the best of the four. Obviously if not by alot.

 

On all possible categories of Boxings considered:

SRL

Pernell Whitacker

tied for 4th PBF and RJJ ...Way below the top dogs...

 

What do you think holds Jones back from being mentioned in the same category?

A early 90's version of Whitaker would beat Floyd by WIDE Decision at 135:good There's no doubt in my mind about that:nono Pernell knew all the tricks and had the agility, reflexes, and rhythym to give Floyd hell. Add the experience and confidence and :scaredas: Floyd's getting SCHOOLED:yep

Leonard because he had about a doinating 3 year Championship Reign as you can have against the best. Ray slayed the dragon of Thomas Hearns, when many figured he wouldnt. Add Duran Twice, Benitez and ten or eleven TUNE UP's in that span? Makes a REAL STATEMENT:good

Roy? Achieved the accomplishments and early on. he took and won, the Hopkins and Toney fights. Huge wins that cemented his super star status. Everything after that? Made him the hype train predecessor to Floyd. A much better version because he took some of the real risks. He should have made rematches on some and did manipulate his career, (I.E. Hopkins) but eventually fought Tarver and even though he got decapitated and brought to reality? I like Roy even more NOW!! I give him credit for coming back from the ugly moments that ensued vs Johnson and didnt think he could do it. In the end? I'm thinking hey Roy, why not Hopkins? Its starting to look like the best fight for two great Champions of the same Era and Weight who gotta call it a day someday. Getting it while there's still a flash left makes sense.

PBF- The shiny Resume that's more crfated than proven thus far. Immense talent and ability but hasnt beaten all the top opponents in any one division thus far. 147 provides the perfect scenario and since Floyd has gotten the Hatton fight at 147? Two fights with Cotto and Williams are the difference yet again from getting the TITLE and DEFENDING THAT CROWN.

All the above took more risk and proved more of themselves.

You know so very well that I don't think RJJ hold water when it comes to the elite boxers of the calyber of SRL and Sweet Pea...I just can not possibly put him over them..and PBF...the same issue, his resume is possibly better than RJJ but it fizzles from 140 on.....and you can say well he fought ODLH and won, well you know as well as me that the ODLH that fought PBF eventhough he fought galantly, he was not the 28 year old that dazzle the boxing world....

In fact if you add ODLH to this list ..I still rank him way higher than PBF and definitevely higher than RJJ

 

Won the HW belt against a the hand pick opponent the chumpy John Ruiz...

Now lets examine other LHW that fought the best at HW when they made thier move...

Archie Moore fougght Marciano

Bob Foster fought well the elite at HW of his time...

Billy Conn fought the Brown Bomber multiple times..

Now in defeat all of them show me far more than RJJ did in victory...now those man did had great achievements not RJJ

 

I can tell that alot of people haven't seen Whitaker fight.
